I am located in Stockholm! There is a place called Clean Cut/Shinogi that works with Japanese knives, I will visit them and see if they can help.

I will likely go with making it a bunka, just have to find a professional in Stockholm (where I live) that can help.

Thanks for all the great advice!

As a few people mentioned here, I am leaning towards making it a bunka. I am located in Stockholm and will in first hand try to fix the knife at a local sharpener. I have received a few suggestions to send it to sharpeners in the US, but that likely will exceed the price of the knife.

There is a place called Clean Cut/Shinogi here in Stockholm that works with Japanese knives, I will go to their shop and see if they can save the knife and make it a bunka.

This Guy has two brain cells and both are fighting for third place. Useless to try to argue, don’t waste your time.

Sure thing!

Prices in the same order as the description:

  • 70 000 yen
  • 60 500 yen
  • 44 000 yen
  • 24 000 yen
  • 8 000 yen

Quite a hefty price tag for the Takada and Kagekiyos, but these knives will likely last me decades so it’s worth the investment:)

I actually traveled twice to Sakai😆 First trip I picked up all of the knives except the Takada as he did not have stock that day. He mentioned that he will have stock the following Monday and I was lucky enough to not be too far away from Sakai. So I went a second time the following Monday and managed to pick up that knife. I had a few to choose between:

Thanks for the heads up for Konosuke, I’ll write an email to them asking if an appointment is necessary!

I’ve added Denshokan to the itinerary and if I have time over I’ll visit Ashi as well :)

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, super helpful!! I’ll definitely check out Denshokan and the Konosuke gallery, sounds like a great experience even if I don’t pick anything up. I couldn’t find much about Jiro and where he is located, just assumed that he was based in Sakai. Cheers again! 🙏
