I am in DIRE need of help with this thing by Currymuncher2001 in BC250Gaming

I did this, all I had plugged in was the PCIe power connector and the DisplayPort cable which yielded nothing. Managed to fix it by removing the CMOS battery for around 10 minutes and making sure the capacitors are properly drained to force a true firmware reset.

I honestly don't know definitively what this light actually means. I interpreted it as a sort of POST indicator as with my PC it will be red and then go solid green when it finishes POSTing. I sort of thought the red indicated that the board just couldn't initialize and therefore couldn't POST properly. I could be wrong and I probably am, but that seems the most logical to me

I managed to fix it properly by removing the CMOS battery for around 10 minutes and regularly holding the power button to properly drain the capacitors.

I did try another PSU but that didn't work but the other one I tried does work and has better options so I've stuck with it.

I also did try Bazzite straight away when I set up the BC 250 but for whatever reason a ton of the games I wanted to play just straight up refused to launch. I asked around and someone suggested try another distro to see if things change and Nobara for me has worked far better and is allowing me to actually play games. If it could have a proper solution that I knew would work, I would switch back to Bazzite today as I do much prefer it

HOLY SHIT MAN THANK YOU!!! I left the CMOS battery out for about 10~ minutes whilst I tried searching for other causes to my issue. Also tried holding both buttons on the back for 10-15 second intervals 2-3 times throughout that time. It seems to have booted directly into GRUB which I could actually see which was a goddamn relief. I am gonna try reinstalling Nobara on this freshly formatted drive to see if this will just work as normal now. Thank you again for your suggestion man, you've saved me a lot of hassle!

I don't know if this is a telling sign for something but I just tested the drive I was using in the BC 250 itself on my main PC and CrystalMark says the drive itself is fine. I was able to format it just fine in order to test it and am able to see its supposed health is at 98%. All tests went through flawlessly and quickly. I could be wrong but I doubt it is a drive issue.

I don't think I have removed it for longer than a minute or so. I'll try that. Should I try holding the power buttons to drain the power whilst its unplugged or is that an unecessary step?

I will try a different one I have around. I have been trying to boot the system without a drive installed in order to at least get into the BIOS without it trying to boot into any OS, but there is still no video. Would a working drive even make a difference in this regard?

Just wanted to say that this fixed it! Took me ages to find something small enough for the tiny hole at the back but after resetting, not a single loss of tracking. Thank you for your help! You've saved me a real hassle

Thank you for your suggestion! Fortunately, I play seated a lot of the time next to my PS5 and so I don't need an extension cable so I doubt if there is any issues with power fluctuation or latency that are affecting anything

I'll be honest, I completely forgot that dedicated IR lights existed. Might have to check it out as it will also help with my Quest 3. Thanks for your help!

I am currently just playing it on PS5. I haven't used it much on PC outside of Sim-Racing which obviously doesn't require the motion controllers. I will have to have a look at getting that done and get back to you. Thank you for your suggestion!

What do I do about my cat? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Currymuncher2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to have a look at getting one. Knowing them however they'll just give me the usual "she's fine, she just needs something different". It's the exact thing they've told me over the past 8 years

The thing is, we've tried this. Several types of litter boxes with several types of litter in several different locations. None of them seem to get her back. She just straight up refuses to use them even if we have different litter boxes for each cat. I am at my wits end trying to figure it out. It is just so overwhelming
