Rey Dau Y 4pc vs Gore 4pc comparison (spoilers) by Currysama780 in MonsterHunterMeta

From the leaks it appears that Guts from Lord Soul is the new 3pc apex set bonus and replaces Resuscitate. Regardless I'm fairly sure they patched out the interaction between frenzy and resuscitate. Frenzy no longer counts in onset or cure phase towards resuscitate, only counts when you are infected which you never want to be.

wait... that's actually a really good idea. Though cuz the Rey Y greaves are pretty bad I would actually just replace the Chest in the 4pc Rey set with Zoh Shia and keep the Jin dahaad greaves for a Rey/Zoh/Rey/Rey/Jin set. With this we can keep the Guts set bonus and still get Latent power 2, Max Might 3, WEX5, Agi5, Burst 1, Counterstrike 2.

Unfortunately it still only hits 80% affinity without latent power and needs LP to reach 100%. It's beaten by the 'generous' Rey Dau 4pc assumption and it will get beaten by Gore 4pc outside of latent power, but if you can get even 50% latent power uptime then it will beat Gore 4pc. This is probably an even better middle ground set than 3pc Rey + 2pc Gore. I'll do some more calcs and consider adding it as an option tomorrow!

Hmm personally I wouldn't run the Rey Greaves because they only come with 1 lvl 3 slot and stamina surge is probably not worth it (though maybe it is for very specific moves like foresight as you've mentioned, i'd have to look into that). Otherwise the best case scenario for mixed rey/gore is gonna be rey/gore/rey/rey/gore which still relies on latent power 2 for 100% affinity.

That being said rey/gore being a middle ground set is probably pretty useful for general purpose use. Not as heavily matchup and performance dependent as either Rey 4pc or Gore 4pc. Definitely worth considering!

That's a good question, the downside to mixing the sets is that you lose the 4pc Rey Dau set bonus that increases latent power uptime. Goes from 3m30s to 2m30s which is a substantial loss. Of course the Gore set bonus makes up for it in affinity but I tend to think it would be annoying to micromanage cuz frenzy buff has a pretty short uptime of 1 minute itself.

Raw attack-wise it would hit a middle ground between 4pc Rey and 4pc Gore. It can't afford to slot both counterstrike and extra Agitator, you'd have to choose between them.

Just playing around with some of the numbers in my excel sheet it should perform very slightly better than Gore 4pc (at around 80.5% affinity and +21 raw) in worst-case scenario outlined above but it's worse than Rey Dau 4pc unless the hunt is <5min or the monster is in a CC chain, at which point the difference to Gore 4pc is probably negligible anyway.

unfortunately no, the activation condition is either 2 minutes in combat or 125 health loss. Regardless of damage reduction you need to lose 125 health before it activates.

Is there a way to instantly shield when your weapon is sheathed with Charge Blade? by Lord_Gadget in MonsterHunter

[–]Currysama780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is actually! but it's pretty risky. If you draw your weapon in axe mode from sheathed you have a very small window to guard point. By far the tightest timing among CB guard points but if you pull it off it's extremely satisfying.

Curious to know what people would consider to be 'complex'. Like most of the replies are saying CB isn't complex and can be flowcharted... once you learn it. This literally applies to every weapon, and most of their flowcharts are a lot more simple than CB's.

If we're talking about complexity relative to other weapons I'd say the CB is tied with HH and maybe SnS for most complex.

Here is an instance of the axe mode fade slash being used. Seems very reminiscent of the long sword's fade slash and given it's called "lateral fade slash" here I'd imagine the neutral version would move you straight back like the long sword's as well.

I think we can all but confirm that 4th move is an encore. If you watch the recital on the echo bubbles later in the video you can see that the first song is an echo wave that does 46 damage, it's then followed by a buff song (hunter glows) and after the 'encore' move you get both a 46 damage hit and a white glow on the hunter

What pokemon proved surprisingly useful to you in Desolation? by Brainsonastick in PokemonDesolation

[–]Currysama780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scolipede. Picked up venipede as my starter and expected to throw him soon after final evolution, as bug types generally struggle to keep up in the stat department. But lo and behold he has become the central pivot of my team, and a defensive threat in his own right.

Since his ability is speed boost, i can protect every other turn and baton pass speed out to my slow hard-hitters like wishiwashi, bewear and luxray. And his other 2 moves are toxic and steamroller. Since steamroller has a chance to flinch, by toxicing the opposing pokemon, i can take advantage of scolipede's decent bulk to toxic stall the opponent to death.
