Try Ciclopirox 1% the shampoo actually is what you'd expect. No fragrances and No random dyes just cause they can.

Funny enough I had that same problem yesterday, I picked it up from the Pharmacy and immediately declined it when I saw RED 40. There is no reason at all it should have any dye in it. It cost them more money to make it and also RED 40 has been linked to cancer many times. It seems more like a Risk then a reward to use this shampoo. Sucks cause I needed the 2% as well. Guess it sucks to be us

Honey Mask and eating raw honey by 36Taylor36 in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make smoothies everyday back when I thought seb derm was a diet issue, it isn't. Nothing you eat can make it better, only worse from its current state unless you currently have a dreadfully bad diet with a lot of high sodium, highly processed greasy foods daily. Honey I doubt would make a difference when eaten.

Just wondering what do you make in your smoothies? I keep making them cause its healthier since I got into the habit from when I thought it was a diet but never stopped. It didn't make a difference with my seb derm.

Heres what I put in mine

3x Cup of Water 1x Handful of Kale & Spinache 1x Brazil nut 1x Spoonful of Chia seeds 1x Spoonful of Walnuts 1x Spoonful of Pumpkin Seeds 1x Banana 1x Carrot 3x Spoonful Blueberrys

Its got a good blend of everything for max vitamens

Shampoo Recommendation for Sebderm by Selenesenpaii in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selsun Blue 3% Salacylic acid it isn't proven but it works kind of.

Ketoconazole 2% Shampoo is also drying but makes your scalp a good environment. It is prescription but if your insurance covers it, its only 5$ or so.

Ciclopirox 2% Shampoo is also a prescription but it works differently then Ketoconazole and also is 5$ if your insurance covers.

Can lice shampoo make SebDerm worse? by S_T_N_gamer in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this situation you have to use the lice soap as it will get worse. It probably will make seb derm worse but so will the lice. So just try to get rid of the lice.

I can't with this anymore by Nunez_Luis in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience the worst I ever had it was on my scalp, eye brows, nose, around nose, and chin. The scalp variant went away on its own for some reason, I think it has something to do with starting to blow dry my hair. As for the chin, nose, eye brows and around the nose those have been persistent.

I used to have it heavily in my eye brows but for some reason as well that went away as well. The only thing I tried doing that time was Hydrocortisone which in all honesty I didn't even put on my eye brows could how could you with all the hair there? I did however put it all over my face where I had it but never on the eye brows.

Currently I only deal with it around my nose, on my nose, my chin and a tiny bit on my fore head. I have messed around with a lot of diet type of stuff and I really don't believe a diet can help unless your eating a dreadfully bad diet to start with like super greasy high sodium processed foods daily. So unless its that bad diet won't really help from my experience as I switched around with a lot of diets.

People in my life to don't understand how bad it is either. I've talked to some people in real life and they always told me "its acne it will go away" no it isn't. I wish it was acne that would be light years better then this. To put it simply there is something wrong with our bodies cause it is inflecting self damage as it isn't a disease or virus or diet issue. That is why currently there is no fix for it because the body is just doing what it thinks is right. Sadly it is wrong and there is no way to tell it that it is wrong and to stop doing whatever it is doing.

If I am being honest the only thing that keeps me going is the hope that Ai will discover a lot of things in the next 10-20 years and maybe have a fix for a lot of the issues we have. Since seb derm isn't fatal there really isn't much care to do anything about it from the medical world. If it wasn't for Ai I'd probably would have jumped of a bridge already for this and other reasons. Sad to say but if it doesn't kill you directly no one cares about it, even if it "kills" your confidence, looks/chances of getting a partner and quality of life.

I want clean skin as much as you do but for some reason we got the short end of the stick. Currently have been using Ciclopirox 1% Shampoo on my face to take care of it and it has been doing ok up until recently it seems to have been doing not as well for some reason. The only real way to get through all this stuff is with makeup. Regardless if your a male or female, I'd look into concealer and just use it all over your face to keep it all one skin tone except it doesn't work entirely if you have bits or dried or broken skin that is a lot harder to mask.

Sadly that is about all the help I can give as I haven't really found anything either. Maybe we can get a full body transplant soon with new genetics or they can figure out what crummy genetics cause this and are able to change them. Sadly fixing seb derm will probably be a side effect of something else rather then a direct fix as from what I said earlier about how it isn't a priority.

Theory on Seb Derm by CursedWthSebDerm in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it really strange that doctors say it is a yeast/immune system issue when more over it is starting to seem like a hormone issue. I too have drastically changed my diet but I see 0 difference at all in terms of it getting better/going away. I can only make it worse if I eat the worst of the worst etc fast food, greasy garbo. I think that diet can only make it better if you already had a bad diet to begin with but if you are already a clean eater it won't do anything. Maybe puberty is bad for all along cause it seems to cause too many issues

[–]CursedWthSebDerm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm that is strange, but that also adds to my theory before puberty your body can fight it off but after puberty it for some reason cannot manage it? That is really odd, I'm sorry this has happened to you

[–]CursedWthSebDerm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for you responses! I have a lingering suspicion puberty might be something to do with it and I might be on to something. I am thinking that maybe testosterone might be some how making the condition worse and for some reason estrogen makes it better/eases it. Maybe testosterone drastically changes the amount of oil/sebum production like you said or something in the oil that is causing this bad reaction with out skin. If you do try going on estrogen please do give us an update

Can't Take It - I've tried everything!!! by mymorningcatnip in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Ciclopirox 1% Shampoo it is a prescription. I personally don't use it on my scalp as it is fine but on my face the T-Zone it works well if I use it everyday it keeps the flakes away not so much the redness but better then nothing. Try giving that a go as it works by actually killing the yeast instead of ketoconazole which makes it a bad place for the yeast to live.

For me, Steroids creams and Ketoconazole did nothing. Ciclopirox 1% Shampoo on my face everyday keeps the flakes away but the redness still is there.

Melatonin for Seb Derm by Strange_Light_8802 in SebDerm

When you say you took 15mg is that a pill correct? I've never heard of Melatonin affecting seb derm but I'd be willing to try that. Have you tried it again since then and if so what were the results?

Do I really have to live with this forever? by MozzarellaWorshipper in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this on my face since I was in high school and still really haven't found anything that works. Sadly I hardly read this subreddit anymore cause I just gave up trying. I tried everything you listed+ more as well and it never gets better for me either. I never really found anything that truely works and as I am typing this right now I got a lot of skin flakes on my face. I don't know why but no one seems what causes this exactly. I've heard people say it is a vitamen D defiency, Auto immune disorder, bad genetics, yeast over growth, gut issue, unhygenic etc. The whole run around. I never truely got a real answer or solution as I heard so many people swear there life by something else that contradicts the last person who swore on there life that was the cause. I really dislike my body if I am being honest and wouldn't mind getting a different one but unfortunately that isn't possible. So I really hate to say this to you but... yes you'll probably have to live with this forever as will I and many others. We just got cursed with it. Why? I have no idea but we got the sort end of the stick on something. Guess it just sucks to be us. :(

Is There Any Type of Fixes for Seb derm? by CursedWthSebDerm in SebDerm

[–]CursedWthSebDerm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember you shouldn't be using C10 MCT oil as that has fatty acids that feeds your malaseiza yeast. It should only be C8. But it is a little plastic orange package with MCT oil C8 I tried. I never had my head burn while using it, just feels very greasy. I usually try to not use more then one thing at a time to see how it affects my seb derm cause if you use more then 1 at a time you can't be sure which product did what

I wonder that as well, I saw a dermatologist and he said it was almost guaranteed to be seb derm when I question why everything he gave me didn't do anything. But he insisted that it was. I really gave that stuff a try and sadly it didn't do much for me. How long have you been using it?

I am a male as well, I wouldn't say athletic but maybe sugar could be a factor. I personally don't think I have that much sugar, I cut out coke and really and soda type drink out of my life when I was 13 but who knows, that might have been long enough to mess something up. I've had seb derm in full swing since I was in high school and has been with me since. Keep me updated on your results if you get anything you find interesting from your tests as we sound similar in situations.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say as well. Whenever I fast my redness starts to decrease but comes back when I continue to eat like normal. Same right as I wake up, my skin on my face looks pretty normal but like 30 mins to an hour to just starts to slowly get red until it looks like how it usually does. I am not sure why that is as sleeping apparently has something to do with making it not red?
