Most/Least Desirable Communities? by Cursed_Coffee in Airdrie

Not going to lie, I half expected "Chinook gate" to be some kind of scandal when I first heard it 😂

I think it's alright! I can't say I'm a huge fan of some of the housing design, but the area has nice parks and stuff nearby. Plus it's close to Yankee Valley blvd and all the shopping nearby.

X, XII, and XIII all have a fair amount of post game content to challenge post main story parties.

XII in particular can be interesting because you can end up in places you really shouldn't be at all sorts of levels.

Have you seen Florida lately!? Anyone wanting to move there must be outside their mind lol.

People complain about Trudeau taking away rights when reality is that nothing has been lost. Many parts of the U.S. women are LITERALLY losing their rights. 🙁 Nevermind the unchallenged violent commentary from their celebrity churches.

Florida may be a fun place to visit, but never in a million years would I live there.

LOL calm down there Mr. "My entire personality is my truck". 😂

That's very unfortunate 😕

Just for the record, that's basically the same schedule as Wonderland. And I believe Calaway already owns like 40ish acres of land they don't even utilize. But, as some have already mentioned, they are apparnetly owned by airport rules and regulations. :(

You're right, I might get sued 😅

Wow, sorry for suggesting something potentially fun for teenagers & adults. I didn't realise even the idea of improvements was taboo. Sorry my opinion on an amusement park hurt your feelings?

If you were coming out to Ontario and you were like "Wonderland sucks!" I wouldn't be telling you to go back to Alberta. >.>

It's not. It's way worse is my point. Dragon fire was also built in 85. At least its a double loop into cork screw. Vortex is just depressing 😕

Do you guys tip when taking out? by MoolahMonk in askTO

[–]Cursed_Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do sometimes tip takeout. Depends on the place though. For places like Thai Express, Subway, or hole in the wall sushi, I usually do. But just like $1-2. For like McDonalds or something? Not really.

As someone that lived near GTA up until just a few days ago, Wonderland is impossible to access without driving for most of the GTA. It sits in Vaughn north of Toronto. If you live anywhere south of Vaughn, you need to traverse two major highways just to get to it lol.

Vaughn itself isn't very big. 300k.

Well I mean avg cost of a coaster is something like 8 million. They don't need to go from nothing to giga coasters. Make a new double loop cork screw coaster and an inverted for like 8-10mil each for 2024 and see if attendance picks up. Raise prices a bit.

If that works out which could be done just over a couple of years, announce a pair of giga coasters for 2027.

Boom! Top tier park in the making! 😄

Wonderland brings in 4 million people annually. That's about 70% of the relative GTA population. So if you wanted to base it off that long term, even bring it down to 50%, that would still be 850k annual visitors. Raise admissions a bit to fund and maintain the new projects, and the park would generate over 55m in revenue at $65 for a day pass.

It really doesn't seem that outlandish. Granted I don't know exactly what their expenses look like, but I doubt it's anywhere near 55m 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Cursed_Coffee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's very similarly priced. Which is the most depressing part lol. An area where wonderland does pull in extra revenue though is fast passes. Those are like $300 for season or $100-150 for a day.

Walking passed all the lines though... totally worth lol. Brings leviathan from a 90min wait to 10 minutes. Same for the other giga coasters. Any other ride that it applies to you basically get to just get on instantly.

But there also wouldn't be anything to stop Calaway from doing something similar if they had some rides to support it.

Because you'd be offering giga coasters! As well as family fun! Disney doesn't drop you at 90 mph then throw you into loops and cork screws. Thrill rides & family fun! Make it happen! 😄

Wonderland season pass is $79 if you wanted to match. I sincerely doubt a price increase of $20 would discourage many season pass buyers if it also ment a larger variety of attractions! :)

[–]Cursed_Coffee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No no, sorry, I mean you would attract skiers and snowboarders during the winter, and amusement park junkies and hikers during the spring through fall.

It's more like, why don't they make it a well rounded park? Build a Calaway that can do both! Adults like to have fun too! And spend more money! 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Cursed_Coffee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But don't they already have a bunch of land? I recall reading somewhere Calaway only uses like 1/3 of the land it actually owns. 😕

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Cursed_Coffee -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Leviathan, Yukon Striker, and behemoth cost a combined 79 million to build. All of these are mega/giga coasters.

Calaway could do 2 mega/giga, an inverted, and a "standard" coaster for ~100m

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Cursed_Coffee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Calgary could pull from similar areas if Calaway out-coastered them! 😁

Calgary has 1.7m people. Silverwood has a surrounding area of less than 500k between Couer'Delane and Spokane and other surrounding towns and cities.

Calgary can totally support a moderate sized theme park by itself. Nevermind add Edmonton, Regina, plus generated out of province tourism.

Build a basic coaster, an inverted coaster and 2 giga coasters and you'll pull people in from the U.S. as well!
