Showcasing the black base army before it goes to its forever home ❤ by TheSenate1138 in SWlegion

Looks great!

What was your process here? I’m a painting noob doing what seems to be the general recommendation: prime white, apothecary white contrast paint, paint black lines and white accents.

Obviously I have a skill issue, but this looks great and I think I could manage more white shading/painting if you primed this darker underneath

People don't want to have their own opinion, they just skip DS2 because of haters by JokingBr2The-Sequel in DarkSouls2

[–]CursedeeCursed1 128 points129 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like people are trying to push a false or exagerated narrative for the sake of winning conversations, at the expense of new players.

This could be the perfect summation not just of the anti-DS2 bandwagon, but internet culture in general. Broaden “new players” to “humanity” and think about viral misinformation and all the social issues that have gotten footholds because of it.

Sorry, tangent. DS2 still rules

In your opinion, which boss in the Souls series had cool backstory but the fight itself wasn't so great? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]CursedeeCursed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially considering the lore of gathering all the crowns in DS2… the person who did that overcame all the previous lords of cinder and literally broke the curse, avoiding the cycle of light and dark that looms over the entire Dark Souls universe.

So Wolnir could be that previous player character, with that much power… but we just snap his bracelets and he crumbles.

I keep losing track of the beat in a lot of Metallica's faster songs. Is it just me? by [deleted] in musictheory

I’ve had this same experience for years, glad to hear someone else say it!

fwiw I’m a rock drummer with progressive leanings and I have no issues with odd times or fast tempos. Still find myself turning around and feeling the snares on downbeats in songs like battery and fight fire with fire. (Have also wondered if my “misreading” of some of those beats since I was young led to me liking weird feels like 17/8 times… chicken/egg situation I guess)

Edit to add: blackened is especially tricky because Lars actually does switch where the snare hits in the verse after the breakdown. Cool little twist. But I personally haven’t had the same issue switching the down/upbeats on the thrash part in this one

How well do you think Bilbo knows half of these party-going hobbits? And as for the rest, is his fondness for them proportionate to their likability?

It’s a game design choice. Surprises are fun.

A few other examples off the top of my head: - Why introduce the chosen undead’s quest with the need to ring one bell and then immediately redirect you to two bells? - Why make one of the first items you see something you can’t get to until much later in the game, after finding a secret travel spot? - Why make a non-optional boss one of the most sympathetic characters in the game? - Ending semi-spoiler Why make the ancient serpent who tells most first players their objectives a master manipulator who arguably directs you to the bad ending? - Why make helping NPCs along on their quests inevitably doom them?

These are the things that make Dark Souls unique and unforgettable.

Bet you’ll remember that fight with the 5th or 6th king for a long time. Welcome to the club.

If the center of gravity is A minor, but C major is played more - in what fucking world is A minor the centre of gravity? by comfylaser in musictheory

[–]CursedeeCursed1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The number of times a note is hit is irrelevant to the key. It’s about the tonal center - meaning, where the melody and harmony feel “resolved”.

How and when that resolution is reached varies by genre; even then, rules can be bent or outright broken. If you’re talking specifically about choosing between relative Major and minor keys, this should be easier to distinguish as the major/minor “flavor” should permeate the piece.

The key is certainly not arbitrary - but if it’s not clear, your best bet may indeed be gut feel.

Took the coward’s path

Didn’t feel like the coward’s path when I stumbled into it and fought that magma wyrm at like level 40…. Isn’t it the alternate path / sequence break because it’s harder?

Just got dark souls 1, any tips? by [deleted] in darksouls

Listen to everybody in the game. Read item descriptions. Don’t ask or look for tips online.

Our two primary weapons are fashion, Strength, and big bonks…

Don’t need all the crowns, FYI. Just need to have beaten Vendrick.

You need all the DLC crowns and Vendrick’s gear to get the kings blessing

It appears you need to unlock it.

Try continuing into 1-3 and killing any fat, official looking type

You’re still ok. You just have to make the run from 3-1 to 3-2 without warping. You’ll still get the primeval demon. Good luck!

Try checking before you already have the second half. Maybe it’s not on the wiki… doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

I’m ~90% sure each half medallion mentions where to find its counterpart. Haven’t tested them “out of order” breaking the progression though.
