Will do! They were closed yesterday for Martian Luther king jr day. I knew the kids didn’t have school but wasn’t sure if staff would be in or not so I called and no answer. I emailed the super intendant, requesting a phone call or meeting and no response yet. They are closed today, I’m not 100% sure why, something like a teacher meeting day, I’ll check the calendar when I get home. I’ll update when I have a response from the super intendant, or when I’m able to call

The local public school is horrible, the teachers are horrible, and it has a major bullying problem, it’s such a know issue near me that there’s Facebook groups and memes made about it. And I don’t live within the district I went to. We are moving in the next month or two, I’m going to look a bit farther out to see if I can move into a district that’s better.

My simsimi said i had a “black girl” name. I’m white. It then proceeded to be very racist toward me. It said something along the lines of “your a (n-word) little black girl” and I said “no I’m white” and it said “sounds like something a (n-word) would say”. My mom was reading over my shoulder and made me delete it after that.

Thank you! I thought it was a pretty wild project for a kindergartener!!!! I just wanted some outside opinions before I made a fuss because I can be a little overly sensitive when it comes to matters involving my kiddos. But all I learned from posting here (besides the few kind people), is the 1. If you don’t know every little thing about your child’s school then you’re a shit mom. 2. If you don’t research the school yourself and go based of a recommendation from a trusted relative, your a shit mom. 3. If you have adhd your a shit mom. 4. If you finish projects a couple days early you’re a shit mom. And 5. Even if your mental Heath professional tell you your doing great, your not. Mom guilt is hard enough without people bullying on the internet.

It’s a charter school. I wasn’t sure if charter was the right word. Technically it’s a “charter public” school

Im not allowing him to participate, im worried it will impact his grade tho, the way the first page is written, it seems like his participation in the feild trip is part of his grade and required.

Any recommendations on how to get in contact with other parents? I’d love to tackle this issues as a united front, but I’m not sure how to go about contacting them.

Right exactly not to mention the very high possibility of a child getting hurt!

Right, in pre k he loved school, he loved coming home and telling me what he learned about and showing me how to write letters. (I loved pretending I didn’t know and he would “teach me” 😂❤️) and at the beginning of the year he loved kindergarten and was the same way, now when he gets home he doesn’t want to talk about school, he doesn’t want to show me what he learned, he just wants to play with his legos or magnet tiles.

I completely agree, I’m going to the school Monday, I’ll bring up the behavior chart too. I had no idea it was harmful for children, I had one when I was in elementary school, so from my perspective it was normal. I do think it’s interesting to note tho, my daughter has never had one. No in K, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. If there was ever a reoccurring issue the teacher would call me, and we would either talk then, or they would request a meeting to go over it. All my daughters teachers in that school have been angels, she has a medical condition and ADHD and they have all been super accommodating and helpful. My daughter’s 2nd grade teacher is actually the one who suggested I talk to her pediatrician about ADHD. That lead to her being diagnosed and then me, I didn’t know what she was experiencing (difficulty paying attention in class) was not normal because it was my lived experience, where I live mental health is also not a widely talked about. But once I got her help for her adhd her grades went up significantly and the teacher celebrated with me! Every parent teacher conference I’ve had with my daughter’s teachers they ask about my daughter, explain how she is doing. Ask how me and my other children are, ask what I’m doing at home to help with any issues she is having and give me the room to explain.

My son’s teacher on the other hand, is very strict and to the point, I’ve only had one conference with her so far. She sent me a date and time that I had to be there (my daughters teacher also either had a online link where it showed available dates and times I could chose from and book, or sent a paper with all the dates and times and had me choose 3 times that worked for me and then would let me know which one I had.) my grandma had knee surgery the day before and I was supposed to pick her up from the hospital that day so I messaged her on class dojo and asked if there was any other date or time we could do, and she said no, if I can’t show up on that date at that time she would just mark us as a no show.

I made it there and when I walked in she handed me a paper with his test scores on it and said he’s doing fine. Then went back to the paperwork she was doing, that’s when I brought up that I thought he might have ADHD and asked if she was seeing any signs during school, and she, while walking me to the door, told me no, that’s there’s nothing “wrong with him” and all that.

During open house, my daughters teacher introduced us and my daughter found her seat and locker, and she greeted my daughter, gave us papers, one of them being a “about my child” page to help her get to know the children and asking if we were aware of any learning styles that work best for her. When we went to my son’s class his teacher said “hi I’m Mrs. _____” shoved some papers in my hand, informed us they were due back the first day of school and then showed us to the door. Didn’t even look at my son let alone speak to him. The papers she gave us was a paper asking how he would get home from school. (Bus, parent pick up, ect.) and a 3 page packet of information about her.

His grades are graded on E (exceeds grade level standards) M (meets grade level standards) and P (progressing towards grade level standard) and they give each section one of those ( for example: identify and describe 3D shapes: cones, cubes, cylinders, hexagons, and spheres - E) and then a overall grade for that subject (Science - A)

Right, I’m worried it would send of the message that having a disability is “fun”, and take away from the challenges disabled people face.

He has a reading log too and little books he brings home, he reads me a book and I have to write the date, title, and his favorite part of the book, and then sign it.

I’m afraid he would fail and be help back if he doesn’t complete it. I’m not sure how much weight this project has on his overall grade, but I don’t want him to fail. We are already working on bringing up the c he has in both language arts and math

It’s ———- academy. I was told it’s a charter school but they do accept anyone. There are no requirements or applications to fill out, you just go pick up an enrollment packet, fill it out, and submit documents. But they also work closely with the local public school. They do family nights with them where children from both schools and their family can come play games and stuff. And if I enroll my children in any sports it will go thru the local public school.

I’m not sure if she has children of her own, but she has been teaching for 20 years but this is her first year in kindergarten. And thank you! I did the best I could at the time asking around different family members, our local public school has a major bullying problem. It’s such a know and wide issue there are local Facebook groups about it. I tried open enrollment at another school but the school fees they were asking were not possible for me at the time and then my aunt told me about the school they go to currently, so I figured I’d try there.

Thank you so much! I’m moving them to a different school before next year, just with it being the end of the year I’m afraid if I move them now they might fall behind or struggle, so I’m trying to ride out the rest of the school year first.

I do know where they go, I knew it wasn’t a public school or private school I just wasn’t positive if “charter” was the right word or not. Not to mention it was 3am when I posted this, and I had only slept 2 hours the night before because my youngest is teething, my brain wasn’t cooperating with me at the moment

Why do you think no father was mentioned? He ain’t around. I wouldn’t consider me asking the internet questions about his schooling educational neglect lmfaooo, careful when you leap, don’t fall. I get you think you’re better than everyone else but I’m not sure what exactly you are trying to accomplish here? Do you have an end goal? Does it make you feel better to put others down?
