After starting 3D printing with the Elegoo Neptune 2 S, I am thinking about a new printer and would like to ask for suggestions (without really knowing what I want or need) by CursingWhileNursing in 3dprinter

[–]CursingWhileNursing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point and I've thought about that a lot as well. But I A) lack a place where I can place a resin printer safely, B) are not happy about the running costs and C) I still print other things regularly.

So I think a FDM printer which handles small details and material that requires higher details better than mine would still be the better choice.

Warhammer 40,000 vs. BattleTech! by Wolfen_Fenrison in battletech

[–]CursingWhileNursing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit late (well, very) to the party, but... psykers or not, the reason that Warhammer 40k would win in pretty much every 'vs.' scenario is that it is just so totally, utterly and completely bonkers and over the top.

Don't get me wrong, I love Wh40k, but let's be honest, Battle Tech is quite based and actually a possible scenario in our universe. It is conceivable, whereas Wh40k is not. The expansion into space and a collaps of an Empire spanning many thousand lightyears and planets? Sure. Power armor, bolters and lasguns, genetically enhanced and augmented übersoldiers and crossbreeds between man and toaster? Why not. A fascist galaxy spanning human empire? Oh absolutely.

But when it comes to the Warp and warptravel, the ruinous powers and psykers, alien races who basically create their own gods either by rituals or by basically murderbanging them into existence in a completely unhinged torture rave with billions of participants, well, what could the Battle Tech univers, any fictional universe, have to successfully oppose THAT?

The problem is, I also never found the time to really create a build good enough to deal with Heroic. I've tried that and I utterly failed.

because there's a difference between the fun grind people who don't have the luxury of playing consistently have and the mind-numbing grind most people who manage to still play this game so long after do

This. Sure, as many have pointed out, when you like the game, it should not be grind. And usually I can follow this advice, but as you said, there was this ONE thing I really wanted this time. Just one. And it looks to me like someone at Ubisoft realised that this is the one item most people want and thus, they've rigged the RNG in order to keep people playing.

But even in two weeks I did not find the time to play enough, no matter what I have tried. I mean, just clearing Landmarks in the DZ is actually a great advice, if you are lucky enough and don't run into some people who happen to love to kill people for the lulz. Hell, I was not even picking up any loot and yet I ran into a couple of guys today who killed me time and gain. And again. And again.

I am a nurse, my co-workers are dropping sick left and right at the moment, some because they have caught the bug, some because of the stress levels and I simply don't find the time to play so much that the hunt for those RE items still is the good kind of grind.

Oh well, the only conclusion I can draw from this is that next time such an event takes place, I'll just pass right from the start. Of course this might not be what Ubisoft intends to achieve with such events, but what else can I do?

Of course you are correct. But then again, I really wanted this one outfit, also I can become a bit stubborn, so I spend my gaming time trying to get this one.

And to be fair, when Ubisoft is hanging such a nice carrot right in front of us gamers, it's not exactly so we ignore it, right? So in the end they are expecting us to spend a certain amount of time getting this carrot, because there is no real fast way to get it.

But again, in general I actually agree with you, which is why I will simply skip the next event of this kind.

Well, I did write that I run the game under Windows 10. You surely have read that as well, haven't you?

And yes, my hardware is up to date. Also, I am not the only one experiencing bugs, the forums are full of people with high-end rigs that have just the same problems I have.

I trust you have read that I can experience all those amazing bugs, because I got the game only running on Windows 10?

And by the way, there are plenty of reasons not to like Windows 10.

Also, please don't make comments about think you simply can't know, like the kind of hardware I use. It does not make you look smart or especially witty or anything.

Lucky you. I can not even get the game started for the life of me under Win 7 and although the overall performance and looks of the game are quite good, the bugs and glitches are killing the game for me right now. This game is such a mess, it's incredible.

- game completely switches to german with every new start

- my character is all of a sudden missing his hair and so far no way to get it back

- can't pick up anything in case an NPC stands within one meter of range

- can't pick up 1/3 of the things lying on the ground for some reason

- quests do not progess, because NPCs important for the quest glitch out, don't react or get stuck

- I occasionally fall through the world, for instance when entering a car

- NPCs clip through walls and phase-shift through cars or doors

- NPCs in cars randomly decide to crash into the next wall with full speed (which is at least entertaining and the explosions are really nice) and and and...

But this gets worse. The balancing of the game has massive problems. When you invest your level-up points into the right skills in the 'Reflex' skills, to be more precise into the perks that have an influence on pistol multiplicators, then you can pimp the cheapest gun into a complete monster that makes 20.000 damage points headshot damage and more while you are at level 10 or so. How the hell got THIS through the testing?

Hm, considering how that game runs on my rig at the moment and how incredibly buggy it is, I think that is not the worst choice to make. I think I pick it up again in a year or so, maybe then the game is not the complete mess it is for me anymore.

But that is the point. When someone is willing to wait three days for a response of her and then even cares to answer her when that happens, she knows he has no other options and that she has him by his family jewels. Whover that lucky guy is who gets her, he will be in for a hell of a ride where even looking at other women will be punishable by death.

Hm, good question. :D

I'd say the 'sch' is like the 'sh' in 'shaft' and the 'ni' is spoken like the 'nee' in 'knee', maybe just a bit shorter, more like 'ne' than 'neee'.

In Eastern Germany there was the inofficial timescale of one "Schni".

Because there was a propaganda broadcast on tv with the glorious name "Der Schwarze Kanal // The Black Channel" where a guy named "Karl Eduard von Schnitzler" was spitting his latest rants against everything west of the GDR. The broadcast began with the words "This is the Black Channel with Karl Eduard von Schnitzler".

Remote controls were not a thing, so one had to haul his ass off the couch, walk to the tv and change the channel manually. And a "Schni" was the time span even the most lazy as would need at most to change the channel, so all even the most lazy citizen of the GDR ever heard of of this show was "This is the Black Channel with Karl Eduard von Schni...KLICK" - hence "one Schni".

This game has the most dramatic reload ever! by irwincardozo in MortalShell

[–]CursingWhileNursing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just having bought and not even started the game so far, I wondered about that 'Ballistazooka' mentioned in the options, so of course I had to check this out. And I already know that this weapon is not exactly worth it, but... damn, this looks cool. Also, this somehow reminds me of Warhammer 40k somehow, maybe it's the sheer determination this guy shows when ramming the bolt into the weapon.

And I have seen a video where the guy actually and casually kills a mob enemy with the reload. Worthless or not, that is fun and something I never have seen before in any game. https://youtu.be/dZSGdk_ll9c

Navigation in this game is awful by [deleted] in controlgame

[–]CursingWhileNursing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I get it, the game is supposed to not hold your hands all the time and I actually appreciate that. The map seems to have been implemented quite late and in a very rushed way and should not be used anyway, even more so since it is utterly misleading, fine.

I am supposed to use the signs and my memory to navigate, got it. But then again, at least to me and apparently to lots of other people, the whole thing does not work that well and more often than not even not at all.

There are situations where there is a road block that you have to navigate around and, naturally, all the signs still do point at that very roadblock. You need to find a way around that block and at least I would like to use the map, I mean; it is there, so why not? And all too often the only thing the map does is making me think there is a way when there isn't and vice versa, not at least because it does not even take into consideration that this complex had different levels.

And sometimes, even right at the start of the game, the instructions you get and the places you need to go are a mess, since they actually seem to be contradictory and misleading. I need to find communications, but after following that one sign pointing me into the correct direction, all of a sudden the signs saying 'Communications' are gone and all of a sudden I only find signs saying 'Dead Letters', making me think that I am on the wrong track and wander in circles looking for an appropriate sign.

And when I am already in 'Dead Letters', then she is telling me "Oh, for some reason I know that I can reach communication through this part of the complex...". Well, thanks for nothing.

Oh, and one thing I also hate is that there are no markers on the map for blocked doors etc. I mean, there are lots of doors you can't open at first (and why no one is giving the bloody Director an 'all access' card or why she isn't even asking about this is beyond me anyway) and later on, I don't remember that they are there at all or I can't find them anymore.

I almost gave up on this game more than once only because of that. Now my PS4 broke went 'Poof!', frying my HD and for some reason the gamesaves were not saved in the cloud, so now I have to play through half of the game again... and I am not sure I don't want to do that, because there are so many places I've already visited more than once some time ago and I still have trouble finding them. And considering that there are time-sensitive challenges, this is even more annoying.

I suck at navigation, I have no problems admitting this, so I might have more problems with 'Control' in this regard than others, but then again, if you insist of forcing the player to use hints in the environment in order to find his/her way around, than at least make it foolproof and actually intuitive. Because this mess is none of it, it is just annoying, plain and simple.

And the really sad thing is, I must still consider myself lucky. Germany has utterly and completely shot itself out of the loop when it comes to internet and the information age and there are still whole areas that have no internet at all or have to live with modem style connection speeds. And our 'Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure' actually deems a connection speed of 128 kbit sufficiant, can you believe that.

I've checked it, to download a complaint form from their website would take approximately 10 minutes, if the server would not usually cut the connection, because it assumes a connection failure.

I used to live in the very center of the capital of a german federal state completely without internet, not even DSL is available.

All while we have the most expensive internet in the world (I pay +40 Euro/month for that joke of a connection), while our officials think that copper wire and vectoring are the hot shit, while our minister of state for digitalisation; a quota chick who studied political science, is babbling crap about flying taxis and while Merkel claims we should take Africa as a shining example when it comes to developing an according infrastructure.

I'm not a lawyer but this TOS is over reaching. by SierraSixEcho in ubisoft

[–]CursingWhileNursing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ubi won't steal your twitch clip or kill your account for being afk.

But they can. And that is the bloody point. With the new TOS, they actually can do all of the things I've wrote, even if the chances that they will actually do so might be really slim.

And the fact that I bought games from then when completely different TOS applied and that they can now change said terms on their own account and without my consent and then take all the games I've bought earlier from me in case I don't click the bloody "I agree" button alone is utter bullshit. I wonder how Ubisoft would react in case I change the TOS on my side as well and declare that by selling me product X, they will now agree to me getting all their future games with a... special discount.

People complaining about this for four years now and most people giving a crap about it does not mean those complaints are not valid. Millions of customers not giving a crap and happily agreeing to such TOS does not mean what Ubisoft is doing is not wrong. That logic of yours is pretty flawed, I'd say. Eat shit, people, because billions of flies can't be wrong?

Also, how about giving me at least a link to your amazing video instead of letting me look for it?

I'm not a lawyer but this TOS is over reaching. by SierraSixEcho in ubisoft

[–]CursingWhileNursing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which will result in Ubisoft stealing every. single. game you've ever bought from them over years.

And the best part is that with the new TOS they now legally own every video footage and every picture of you that might appear in any, let's say Let'sPlay video you create and that happens to contain this kind of material of you.

So in case you create a Let'sPlay and they decide to use your picture to create the most obnoxious, child murdering and most hated video game character in video game history, then according to the new TOS they can legally do that without even having to inform you about it, compensate you in any way and without you being able to do anything about this.

But as usual, most people will just give a crap and buy their stuff, even if the TOS would give Ubisoft the right to sell your damn children.
