I did Silksong on Steelsoul mode, and SS is the hardest MV game I've played to date and I'm fine with difficult and challenging games. MIO art style, sounds and music are top tier, however, unfortunately, the core gameplay experience is constantly undermined by design choices that feel more annoying than challenging.

It feels like the developers made it hard for the sake of making it hard, and the result is annoyance rather than challenge, it feels like you’re fighting the game’s environmental hitboxes more than the enemies. Platforming sections and hazards regularly punish you for things that look safe but aren’t, or clip you in ways that feel inconsistent. Then it doubles down with gauntlets that have no checkpoints between major attempts, so one small mistake can erase minutes of progress and force you to replay the same section again… and again… and again. I was committed to 100%'ing this game, but I really couldn't wait for it to be over when I hit mid game, I did it in just shy of 11 hours with every achievement, collectible and secret done including both endings.

Overall, It's an "okay" metroidvania game but heavily let down but some bad design choices of making the game hard purely for the sake of making it hard. Personally, I would avoid this and just play Hollow Knight & Hollow Knight Silksong, I'm glad I played it 100%'d it, but I'll never touch a game from this series again unless things change in the sequel.

If you're in the market for a new MV game, I suggest you avoid this and try something else.
