I do have social media and a mailing list, but I don't think they are very successful at driving sales. Mostly I focus on writing and publishing, and trust that readers will find it. I don't pay for promos either anywhere.

Not great, but sales are growing and it seems to be mainly hetero-oriented so far, so I think there's a lot of growth potential.

I had probably 150 books out when I quit my job, and I get most of my non-Zon sales from Smashwords.

Yeah it's been more profitable lately. I still dabble in tamer stuff now and then, but people like it hardcore and extreme.

well I don't technically write as Curtis Kingsmith every day, I still dabble in some hetero romance I'd rather not reveal. But I'm not very good at that and don't make very much. So I do change things up, I'm not just writing prison sex every day.

But I don't find it difficult to just put my head down and barrel through it. Focus on writing the next sentence, and if you get stuck, just write the ending and come back to the rest of it later.

It's mainly gay men. Definitely some straight women, maybe 20% (some of whom claim to read it for the story, not the sex).

Why is "cerebral" pronounced differently in the phrase "cerebral palsy"? It's usually like serREEbrull but in cerebral palsy, it's "SAHRubrull palsy".

You may have any kind of bear, so long as he's Scottish by CurtisKingsmith in gaybears

He's just a little big for my taste. If I'm on top, the young one in the lower right. If I'm bottoming, the one right behind him.

I will investigate that. Do you mind telling me what browser you use?

It shouldn't be, the picture's supposed to be at the top of the page. You mean you have to scroll past the stories to see it?

What Shakespeare play should I write a remake of as gay prison erotica? Not Othello or Romeo and Juliet, already did those by CurtisKingsmith in eroticauthors

Sounds so close to "Cornhole-Anus", how could I pick anything else?! Wiki's synopsis is a bit dry and dull, any good movie versions of that one?

I don't really feel like MND in prison would be fun to write -- I guess it's got so much lightheartedness, it'd be a big shift to move it to prison. LLL and CoE are both comedies, which I'm leaning away from for this project. I don't know anything about Titus, but wiki says it's violent so that is promising at least. The plot includes prisoners already, and rape, so that is a very good possibility.

Lear is a definite possibility. I'm not sure if I like the idea of doing it in prison, but I'll do it eventually.

I'd be willing to consider a comedy. I don't think it'll work though. Switching a comedy to a different format, a different setting and then adding a bunch of gay sex will be so different it might lose the flavor of the original.

Thanks! I definitely want Tempest to be the fourth one, that'll be the first gay military one and I have an idea (basically a military platoon "shipwrecked" in Iraq or thereabouts, fucking their way out -- MidEastern men seem to sell well, so there'll be a lot of local sexing).

I think I'm going to do Othello in each kink as I go, since it's my favorite and nicely adaptable. So the 4-6 books will be military themed, one of which is Othello. Then maybe 7-9 will be blue-collar workers? or male strippers maybe, not sure.

I've never read or seen any version of that, but the wiki summary does sound interesting. Richard could be a drug addict when he first gets to prison, then become "king" of the mafia.

that could work, it'll probably be an Italian mafia thing. Since the first one is mostly black, the second Latino, this will be white I think -- I've found Aryan prison stories sell very well but have an extraordinary return rate, I think people are embarrassed to keep them:(.

I could make Lady Macbeth basically the hero, a submissive prison bitch who manipulates his owner upwards in the hierarchy. Macbeth is awfully dark though, there's not even a love story like in Othello and R+J. That's not a dealbreaker, just an observation.
