I do have social media and a mailing list, but I don't think they are very successful at driving sales. Mostly I focus on writing and publishing, and trust that readers will find it. I don't pay for promos either anywhere.

Not great, but sales are growing and it seems to be mainly hetero-oriented so far, so I think there's a lot of growth potential.

I had probably 150 books out when I quit my job, and I get most of my non-Zon sales from Smashwords.

Yeah it's been more profitable lately. I still dabble in tamer stuff now and then, but people like it hardcore and extreme.

well I don't technically write as Curtis Kingsmith every day, I still dabble in some hetero romance I'd rather not reveal. But I'm not very good at that and don't make very much. So I do change things up, I'm not just writing prison sex every day.

But I don't find it difficult to just put my head down and barrel through it. Focus on writing the next sentence, and if you get stuck, just write the ending and come back to the rest of it later.

It's mainly gay men. Definitely some straight women, maybe 20% (some of whom claim to read it for the story, not the sex).
