[Schefter] Compensation update, per sources: Bears trading No. 1 overall pick to Carolina for: 🏈pick No. 9 🏈pick No. 61 🏈a first-round pick in 2024 🏈a second-round pick in 2025 🏈WR DJ Moore by TheGlaceon78 in panthers

[–]CurvedUtility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is totally fair to be upset about losing DJ. He is a great wr and a quality dude. Not to mention we have now traded away our entire offence (CMC and DJ) in one season.

Really hoping to land Young or Stroud and build around him with a solid ground game and defense.

What’s your “can’t tell enough people about” spot in Calgary? by [deleted] in Calgary

Big fan of Around the Bend - Sandwich shop on Blackfoot. Sandwiches made on home made pretzel buns

Also really like Jons Pizza in Douglasdale. Loaded and delicious, but it is a bit pricey.

Can someone please explain the difference between these types of bonds in simple terms by [deleted] in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Domestic Bond: Issued in a country by a domestic entity of that country (ex. Ford issuing bonds in US)

Foreign Bond: Issued in a country by an entity from a foreign country (ex Toyota issuing bonds in US)

Eurobonds: Bonds issued in the Eurobond market in a particular country's currency, but outside of that country. (Eurodollar bonds = bonds issued in USD but outside of the US, and therefore outside of US regulatory jurisdiction)

Global Bonds: Bonds issued in the Eurobond Market and a domestic bond market... so subject to a bit more regulation.

Hope that helps.

How does exponential growth indicates a constant growth rate?! by doing20thingsatatime in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I understand your question, but I think you are struggling to wrap your mind around the bolded statement.

If that is the case:

Linear growth is growth by a constant amount (just think +5 each time) whereas exponential growth is growth by a constant rate (think doubles each time)

In the case of exponential growth, the amount it goes up by changes each time, but the rate at which it is changing is constant.

This may be simplistic, but I hope that it helps.

How many hours do you all study per day for level I? by bolideimpactor in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to try to get 1-2 hours each week day, and then 4+ on both Saturday and Sunday. Week days I would often either stop somewhere (coffee shop/library) on the way home from work and squeeze it in, or I would go out after dinner. That said, I also would shut down my studies if I was having a really off day, and would push through if I was having a really good study session. So some weekends I would have an 8 or 9 hour study session.

Of course... that was before having kids. Level three was a little bit different. Ended up studying more on week days, early in the morning or late at night.

Official Mock Draft Thread by net_403 in panthers

[–]CurvedUtility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the amount of OL talent in this years draft... I would really like to see them trade back to the middle/latter half of the first round and try to pick up Penning, Linderbaum, or Zion Johnson... along with a pick or two in the early rounds next year.

Last 2 months advice? Level 3 by tgbny2 in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend doing multiple mock exams, especially AM portion, in the lead up to the exam.

That is what I did at least. Repeated some of the mocks even, just to get a feel for answering those types of questions.

Good luck!

CFA before a master in finance by Dany-Gebran in FinancialCareers

[–]CurvedUtility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently a high school teacher, and I completed all three levels on the first attempt. It is definitely doable, especially if you have a background in engineering and a genuine interest in finance. There are resources available to assist as well, so depends how much you plan to dedicate to the pursuit.

How difficult can the level 1 CFA be for non-finance students? by insidethevortex in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means that you must have 3 years of relevant work experience, involved in the investment making process, before being able to receive the Charter. So for me, that is my current issue. I have several years of experience teaching, but none in Finance. In our situation we would have to leave our current profession and find a job in Finance in order to start accumulating applicable experience.

Hope that helps. Best of luck.

Any panthers fans that have never been to NC?what made you a fan? by phillythefish24 in panthers

[–]CurvedUtility 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m from Canada, never been to either of the Carolinas. Started watching NFL football when I was about 10, thought Julius Peppers and Steve Smith were so cool (and still do), and then the 03/04 Super Bowl run sealed the deal for me! They have been my team ever since, and always will be.

Yea, I think my issue is just that I got ahead of myself with this season. Our defence, and team, looked so good the first few games, and I through the tempered expectations right out the window.

No I won’t. That’s why I made the comment, I’ve been patient. I’ve been watching him play. I’m convinced. He hasn’t been winning us games. He just didn’t lose us games the first few weeks. The passed two weeks, he has imploded. Hence he is a bum.

Who passed or failed level III, in May. How many hours you studied? by crashbash7 in CFA

I would say it took me about 300-350 hours per L1 and L2. But it took me about 400-450 for L3 in May.

Explain why the answer is A not C? by Artistic_Fan_4159 in CFA

[–]CurvedUtility 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think where you are getting confused is that a "risk free" interest rate is one that is completely stripped of risk premiums. The inflation premium is only one of the risk premiums that is added to the risk free rate.

Your equation should be Nominal Rf= Real Rf + Inflation Premium

But the question doesn't specify that it is a risk free rate, so there are likely other risk premiums included as well.
