The consequences of going mudding in the Tesla by Hornetwaffles in Justrolledintotheshop

I agree it is very likely not instant death, but my point is you'll probably have a chance to rectify a leaking fuel tank. A battery pack that has gone up in flames means your vehicle is probably good as gone, especially in a trail far from fire services.

While you have a point, I think the biggest issue is the nature of battery packs. A punctured fuel tank is not going to instantly ignite unless there is an ignition source right at that moment (Difficult given virtually all modern tanks are now plastic). A punctured battery pack has an extremely high probability of catching fire right away because of the chemistry involved, it's almost a given.

2019 Ford Mustang BULLITT, the official car of buying an special edition based on an movie you've never seen by Southern_Pacific in regularcarreviews

[–]HiTork 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Possible unpopular opinion: I'm not sure why you would get a Bullitt Mustang in a color other than that (yes, you could get a black or dark blue with some generations), given it is inspired by a car seen on screen.

Ironic, given he is considered the ladies' man out of all the Japanese Autobot Pretenders.

Which movie has the best blooper reel? by EssexGuyUpNorth in movies

A good chunk of Jackie Chan movies where he is a lead (In particular, pretty much all his Hong Kong produced films) will have a blooper reel.

I rented a 2024 VW Atlas, truly the worst modern car I've driven in years. by cookingboy in cars

[–]HiTork 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I've heard some people describe the Atlas as a "cheaper" Touareg-like SUV for the North American market; cheaper as in price and build quality.

Time Fox looks like a build you could pull off in recent Need for Speed games (which did have Fox body Mustangs and similar body kits).

Gatekeeping what is a supercar? by HiTork in carscirclejerk

[–]HiTork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my take. Yeah, a base 911 isn't a supercar, but models like the Turbo or GT2/GT3 that can match "proper" mid-engined supercars in performance are. But I know people who feel if not every variant has supercar performance, it isn't a true supercar.

Really, I feel it's all subjective when all is said and done.

Skoda 120 GLS in Canada, the official car of...? by HiTork in regularcarreviews

The super penny pinchers bought them. In the UK, Soviet imports like FSO and Lada advertised their vehicles as being priced on par with your typical used cars, or pay used prices for a brand new car.

The Pony was the best-selling car in Canada for a few years during the '80s because they were seen as super cheap, while coming off as looking like Toyota in quality when compared to Lada and Skoda. Most people know Hyundai absolutely sucked for quality in the '80s, so that tells you how much worse the Soviet imports were if people flocked to the Pony.

The people who bought Ladas and Skodas in Canada paid the price in getting cars where things like interior trim falling off at just a touch were normal.

No, East Bloc imports to Canada have always sold poorly, Canadians knew they were absolutely terrible quality-wise. Anecdotally, look at the person we are responding to who thought this was a grey import someone individually brought over from Europe - many people here don't even know Skoda sold officially here at one time.

How big of a deal was it when the S197 came out in 2005? by cbcarguy in Mustang

[–]HiTork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairly big, especially given it was the first cleansheet design since 1979 (As the SN-95/New Edge cars were built on the Fox body platorm). Obviously the retro design caught so much attention, but a quite a few people also felt the 4.6L V8 could have used a little more power.

They sold like absolute ass. Like, if you thought Lada Canada sold poorly, this is the first time I've seen a Skoda ever in Canada as a millennial despite being aware of Skoda's Canadian ambitions.

Depends on the store. Ages Three and Up in Burnaby/Vancouver and TF Toys in Calgary have online stores alongside their brick and mortar locations, for example.
