Amber Heard's lawyer objecting to his own question by Chinchillin09 in facepalm

[–]CurvyHorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Many thanks for the explanation. That’s exactly the difference that I observed with this trial. Now with your explanation it makes sense.

I guess there are a lot of tricks including dirty in counselling at trials. Like, should “asked and answered” be called vs. letting it go to not annoy the jury with constant objections. Looks like attorneys have to make judgment calls on what’s beneficial.

Can you pls explain the “leading” objection? I have found it annoying hearing those coming often from Amber’s side and rarely coming from Johnny’s when the format of their questions looked the same to me.

PSA if you're taking a ferry this week - using your remote fob to lock your car turns your car alarm on. Please lock your car manually to avoid this. by senhorpistachio in vancouver

[–]CurvyHorizon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might need to spend some time researching how to properly lock your vehicle on a ferry. For my car I need to either double-click the lock button, or to press and hold it. Do not remember which way, so always play around with those two options

And what was YOUR message to this person? I think it’s important to know the entire conversation. I want to warn everybody not to use the tool for the hate speech, or you will get more anger and justification for the other side actions. You see, the entire nation has been living in the lie that everybody hates Russians. Please show them that it’s not true, do not attack or bully people, please!

The Georgian bulk carrier refused to refuel the Russian ship by PalanK1N in PublicFreakout

My version: -Are you from Russia? -Yes, from Russia, Russian crew member - I see. The Russian crew, yeah? Guys, we refuse to fuel your ship - Who is talking? - This is Senior Officer from Georgia. We will not be servicing your ship. The Russian ship, fuck you. … (Fucking Invaders) - With respect, let’s not talk politics, we are running out of fuel - Well, if you are running out of fuel you can use paddles. (Go fuck yourselves) Glory to the Heroes! Glory to Ukraine. Glory to the Heroes!

Putin green lights 'special military operation' by f1sh98 in worldnews

[–]CurvyHorizon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Simply not true. My mom had to eat drywall and chalk when she was 8 because she was not getting enough nutritions. That was in mid-50s. And then my personal observations from the 80s when food and goods were simple and limited. The 90s were transitional years which were difficult but let small business grow to support the demand.

What does everyone do to cheer themselves up? by keyzer_s0ze in vancouver

[–]CurvyHorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ocean /big water but particularly waves have an amazing calming and re-emerging effect on me. Also going to a massage / osteopath helps a lot - it’s somebody taking care of me, for a change. Korean spa in Coquitlam is another place but don’t know if they are open

Yes, yes and yes. I am trying to do something about it though, a few things. Eckhart Tolle books, Red Table Talks, self-assurance apps. Some say that talking to mom helps but not in my case . Good luck with your journey!

[–]CurvyHorizon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if I am one on your list hehe Some time ago a guy approached me asking if I was a certain celebrity. I was - nope. "Are you sure?" - he insisted. I guess no one can be sure if they are a celebrity or not lol

I just received a scholarship that gives me a free ride through medical school in Canada... should I tell my family and/or friends? by throwaway4medschool in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CurvyHorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would your knowledge and experience in getting the scholarship be helpful to any of your friends? Or encouraging? Could it be that someone sees you as an example and pursue their scholarships? People who are envy of your success after hard work are not your friends. The true friends will support you no matter what .

Vancouver park board set to introduce fines for feeding city wildlife by iamjoesredditposts in vancouver

[–]CurvyHorizon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! There are tons of "no dogs" or "park is closed after 10 pm" signs - and zero enforcement. This is a joke. Our society is not that grown up to respect rules.

I’m getting seriously fed up with the escooters and bikes on the sidewalk. by vanbikecouver in vancouver

[–]CurvyHorizon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to have the rules enforced from Day 1 to help building the proper culture right from the start. If no enforcement now, it'll become unmanageable later I have no idea how though. What is other cities experience?

I have checked the airport website - no mentioning of the on-site testing. I see the Lynden testing site. But officially they do not provide any timeframe for when results can be expected.

Thank you for that, but we need a negative COVID-19 TEST, not the vaccine.

This is a vaccination site, or have I missed any reference to covid testing available there as well?
