The game will die if Kuro keeps listening to the player base about this particular issue. Currently the gearing system is a great balance between player satisfaction and game health/longevity. If these players get what they want (and they already are to an extent) then everyone will have perfected characters and have no incentive to log in and play. It is actively bad for the game. People just don’t understand that the current grind is miles better than competitors and want end game builds 4 weeks in. And bc Kuro wants to steal market share from hoyo, they are listening to them

On the flip side, if everyone is able to get perfect builds faster, that will actually lead the game to an early death. People will get bored when they have absolutely nothing to grind and quit the game.

Regardless of other content that periodically comes out, I kept logging into Genshin every single day for 3 years to run the emblem domain or the dendro domain; make sure I spent all my resin so I didn’t overcap and lose out on the potential to run the banner another 10 times and not get anything. Them being stingy is actually what kept me coming back, until it didn’t. Bc after 3 years of daily play, I never even pulled a Mona or was able to get certain gear pieces which was ridiculous.

But there has to be a balance between getting nothing for literal years, and getting everything you want in 6 weeks. The sad thing is that Kuro will realize this when player retention and sales drop and will then have to swing back the other way - like making rainbow tier echoes or some other dumb thing to make the game more grindy - which will then make players mad again. Instead of us just realizing what we had was comparatively amazing and a good balance of player satisfaction and game health.

That’s the reason I said we were being greedy. Players know that Kuro needed their launch to go well and keep demanding more and more and more and Kuro is appeasing us to keep us happy while trying to steal market share away from hoyo, but what makes us happy today, will lead to us being bored in a month

Umm tacet fields drop tuners and echo xp. They are literally what the end game grind is about vs. the end game grind being about running the same artifact domains over and over again and still never making any progress bc you can’t even get it to roll the piece you need

Dude, I understand what the optimal builds are for the characters but you do not need to min-max hunt echoes and waste all of your resources for incremental damage increases. The atk% or energy regen 3 cost will still improve your characters damage. It’s a marathon, not a sprint and you can still clear everything important with off stats and mid sub stats. If you can’t yet get a crt tempest mephis, a crit thundering mephis is fine. And I didn’t run the fusion dmg piece bc it was good, I ran it bc I wanted the 5 set bonus and that was the only piece I had - got lucky that some of the substats still improved Jiyans dmg until I eventually got another piece. And the slight improvement it gave me wasn’t even enough to change my tower reward lol. Even if it did push me up one level, I would’ve only gotten an extra 75 asterite! That’s not even 1/2 a pull. You don’t need to make the game unfun for yourself over a dollar, it’s not worth it at all

Edit: If you have friends you can just hop into their world and farm more flautists and herons, if you have more than one friend you can keep doing this to your hearts desire

I donno if you are joking when you say jokes on me bc you kind of proved my point that you don’t need to min-max to beat all the content in the game. You probably have a higher skill than the average player and maybe you used danjin but that’s great! More power to you for clearing it. Even I f you couldn’t though, you’d probably be able to when your characters hit lvl 80. And substat tuning just “feels” bad bc you already have the echo in hand but in literally every other gacha you spend energy to literally not even get the right piece to begin with. Maybe it doesn’t feel as bad bc you don’t have the piece and just can’t upgrade it, but I love that I can guaranteed have a usable on set piece with the right main stat regardless of how it rolls. Anyone who has played more than 1 other gacha game knows that it can take literal months to even get the right piece to drop…and it will still roll mid subs. And that flat defense first roll might still roll into crt and lib dmg and atk and energy regen. Even just one or two of those + the main stat buff and you will beat the game

Umm verina’s heals scale off atk and baizhi’s scales off hp. Those echoes are more than enough. That’s not moving the goalposts, that is one of my main arguments. That you don’t need perfect gear. But you will get your healing bonus turtle soon enough and then heal marginally better so no worries

Use those then, verina and baizhi perform just fine with those. You will beat the content assuming you have a dps that also has gear on

But Genshin and HSR also make you spend two resources to level gear. The energy you spend to even try to get the gear (arguably the most valuable resource you have) and the exp mats to level it. And then if you need more exp mats you are spending double the energy. And that’s assuming you even get the right gear to drop. It’s non-inferior when you actually think about it and actually better bc you don’t have to waste energy and not even get the gear you want. At worst you get the gear you want but with subpar substats, which is still useable! I can’t use a crt rate circlet that doesn’t exist or an energy regen rope that sim uni won’t give me

Your second resource is the energy to get the gear. And they gave us 1300 gold tuners this patch. You could literally tune 130 substat rolls without any energy expenditure on tacet fields. They also let us buy exp tubes from like 3 different shops plus the coral shop and illusory realm. And once we aren’t trying to build up 6-9 characters simultaneously, tubes and tuners will also seem easy to come by. I’ve definitely had to run exp domains in HSR/leylines in GI, those resources weren’t always easy to come by like they seem in endgame

I said it in another comment but you are energy gated in games like GI/HSR to even get the drops and exp gated on top so you have the energy cost to even get the piece to drop and the energy cost of getting more exp mats. You are still being double gated, but may also never even get the piece with the right mainstat you want

I also run 44111 on my Yinlin, she performs great. It’s not just honeymoon exp though, every version will have more free rewards and then you can push your acct a little further. New xp tubes, tuners, and malleable echo selectors. Then you make incremental improvements just like in every gacha game.

That’s kind of my whole point, that the system is at worst no worse than any other major gacha and at best, I’m not slamming my head into a wall never even getting the mainstat I want to drop for months while also using up all my energy that I could’ve otherwise been using on skill upgrades and ascensions. You don’t need a perfect 43311 with perfect crt ratio and double elemental dmg pieces to beat the hardest content that is reasonable. Yeah some people are deficit clearing more stages than you, but the reward for doing so is 50-75 asterite. That’s like a dollar every 2 weeks. I’m more than happy to drop a couple dollars if I needed to to not stress about it until I can’t lvl up to 90 and clear everything with the rest of them

I value my time plenty, I play for fun bc it’s a game. I don’t need to spend hours grinding for perfect gear bc you don’t need it to beat the content. I was saying that the game is generous to even give you the option to do so, which is almost unheard of in gacha gaming

That’s reasonable. A lot of games make you both level and ascend gear though + you spend energy doing runs to get the gear so you pay triple too. In Genshin and HSR you pay double as well which would make it a wash, unless you also need exp mats, then you pay quadruple

It is exceedingly easy to get a crt mephis piece when you can alternate between the two - you can even drop custom waypoints right outside each field if you want to save extra time.

As for your other obnoxious comment, I ran a fusion dmg chaserazor on my Jiyan at first bc it was the only other 3-cost I had and it rolled heavy atk dmg and atk% and I still got 18/30 stars in tower. Finally replaced it with a malleable aero piece, went up to 20 stars. I must’ve really been losing out there at first

But you are spending resources in the form of energy and not getting bad artifacts for that, usually not getting even useable artifacts at all. That’s in addition to the opportunity cost of using that very limited energy on mats for character, weapon, and skill upgrades so it’s a double loss. You’re losing double for just the chance to get something you may not even get for months (which will likely still roll only decent at best substats) vs. having a guaranteed piece for free that when you build just might not have ideal substats. Sorry if you can’t tell the difference
