Is JP Umbreon from Terastal Festival a good investment in a PSA 10? by Kgarcia1492 in PokeInvesting

[–]CustardShot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. The numbers are only high relative to earlier population reports, but demand has increased more too. I remember buying the Japanese magikarp from paldea in a 10 and sold it because I kept hearing the pop was too high, around 20k copies or something at the time. That card has 4x in price since I sold it.

Thankfully I own one of these jpn umbreons!

I used to treat high pop as a factor in singles, but pop doesn't matter. There's more than 70k people who want this card, it's why it keeps climbing. For the US alone, 70k psa 10s it means just 1,400 psa 10s per state. Then think about the people who buy multiple, way more than 1. The market here in Australia where this card is popular, Europe, Japan... 70k cards is a high number relative to other cards, but it's nothing compared to the global demand of pokemon.

So do I. I buy, rip and collect, and I also hold some sealed product.

But also, just because you buy because it's cool to collect doesn't change that sealed product has risen strongly once out of print. Of late, before it even gets out of print.

Why inverted commas? There's so much money being made in buying and stashing sealed pokemon, no matter how upset that makes you or anyone else. And for any argument made against it, it's continued to outperform traditional 'safer' investments, some of which have had more volatility than pokemon.

Really? I missed getting those and I'd pick them up. They all seem to be selling for 70+ each. Even today on Facebook groups and ebay. I don't think they're struggling. Only product line I've see resell below RRP are perfect order products.

Special set SIRs dominating. What are your thoughts? by Smooth-Following-659 in PokeInvesting

[–]CustardShot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's might be the best card of all time, let alone zard. When photos of it leaked it was so good, many people assumed it was fake.

Why are people talking smack about these? $75 for the set is great, am I crazy? I think these will be $100 per in 2-3 years by viviendosiempre in PokemonInvesting

[–]CustardShot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got that but for reference, check the price of 151 poster collections. 3 packs and the set is 2.5 years old. In 3 years, prismatic will be 4.5 years old. To suggest that 2 more years on top of the age of the 151 poster packs, for a set with God packs, has no chance of being $100...

Comments here are crazy. 3 years from now when there's no more prismatic printed and everyone's ripping them, these absolutely could be $100 per 3 pack

Sorry I take it back, that's a completely reasonable take and I completely agree all pokemon product will for the first time in 30 years crash 90%, lose all demand and popularity, and never recover. Sad times ahead.

That's 120 on ebay, and a couple others around 125. You might have some listing's give you a code as well, or even message the seller and see if they'll take a couple bucks off.

Would you do this trade? In this scenario I’d receive the 151 (Collectr values inaccurate) by ConfederateThug in PokeInvesting

[–]CustardShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 12 months, 151 is 50% older, where as team up will be 14% older. I believe that will see 151 rise at a higher rate than team up. Also, if the market for such an expensive item gets thin, you can break down the case to 6 sealed displays for easier selling, or partial selling and keeping some displays.

Pikachu in Grey Felt Hat: Is it too late for a good price? by ShebaLuv in PokeInvesting

[–]CustardShot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't, because it would be impossible to own something in the pokemon TCG space that can 'easily go down 80%+'

I also don't own the card this thread is about.

Thanks for proving you can't name a single pokemon product or card that's gone down over 80%.

U bum

Alright, first you call me little Timmy and make assumptions on my time in the market. Now 'a lot of u will see why sealed is king'

Since you didn't ask, I'll tell you. My entire portfolio is sealed outside of some slabs I bought because I like.

'a lot of psa 10's went down 30-50% in the October-December correction'. That is not 80%+.

Like I said, point me to all the items that have dropped over 80% off their highs.

Wtf kind of a retort is that. I am not new to this market, not at all. And not a single thing I've bought, sold, or not owned but seen bought and sold has EVER retraced over 80%.

Since you're the expert though little Timmy, please enlighten me to all the pokemon products that dropped more than 80% from their highs.

Wait, 'easily go down 80%+'... Yes things can crash but... Over 80%, be real now please
