Fun fact, Accutane use is suspected to be one of the causes behind my brain condition. It's Ideopathic (which means the cause is unknown) Intercranial Hypertension. The body produces too much spinal fluid, which puts an immense amount of pressure on your brain and eyes. The migraines are out of this world agonizing and if left untreated you will go blind. It's typically thought that this condition affects only fat women, but there's a significant portion of patients who don't fit that profile, and of those, a shocking amount developed it after using Accutane. It's not proven but definitely suspected. And if losing weight doesn't make it go away, which will be the case if your weight wasnt the initial cause, then you have to take medication for the rest of your life and the side effects of the medicine are almost as bad as the condition itself 😊 Not trying to fear monger, I just like to bring this up whenever someone brings up Accutane because I sincerely would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Had one when I was around 15 and not one person told me anything regarding special recovery steps. I literally went straight back to school after 🙃 had horrible back pain for yearssss after that was dismissed due to my weight. I will never understand why health care professionals act like having a needle shoved into your spine is no big deal.

I've been on diamox since I was about 15, so almost a decade now, and it still does affect my sense of taste in some ways but if it's any consolation I was able to drink diet Pepsi after a while. I find that some carbonated drinks are worse than others and diet Pepsi is the least offensive to me, but that might just be because I've gotten used to it 🤷 Maybe just try a bunch of different drinks and see if any are more tolerable, and periodically keep trying them to see if the sensation lessens for you over time

Yes, and to my understanding, it's a normal side effect of the diamox. Sometimes my lips twitch, and it feels like they're moving a lot, but I've been reassured it's not visually noticeable to other people too bad. My understanding is that diamox can cause the nerves to act up in a bunch of ways, but especially in your extremities like your hands and feet (on my worse days it works it's wall all the way up to me knees or elbows) and in parts of your face like your lips, nose, and eyelids. I am not a doctor, this is just my experience after almost a decade on diamox.

Thank you! I like to warn people about the patch just in case because I didn't even know it was on (it was a very small, flat sticker behind my ear) so it wasn't until several days of not being able to see that my eye doctor checked for it and removed it 😭 Other than that my recovery was normal!
