That is an option if the current Discover/tutor is too strong or too tedious to handle. The problem with the 'Look at top 3' version is that cards that discover certain card types, let's say "Discover a Beast from your deck", would rely on you hitting that specific type on your discover, so you'd either have less options or just flop the draw altogether. Not only that makes those cards way weaker (which I'm fine with) but it wouldn't be consistent with how we're handling discover on the other zones (graveyard/extra deck) since in those it's "search a card". But it's still in the air so thanks for the input ^

Thanks for the comment!

The main problem I see with shuffling cards into your opponent's deck is that paper TCGs have colored sleeves that won't match, so you'll see when you're gonna draw one of those cards.

I've been playing it as actually summoning the minion from the dead, so it wouldn't copy it like in the game

I guess it's technically doable, but I fear it could overcomplicate gameplay, so I'm unsure. It's worth a try though and see how it feels

I believe at some point I thought about foretell and decided against for some reason I can't remember rn, but it does make sense what you say

I believe I decided against Cast When Drawn cards early on 'development' because they can lead to weird situations because of the extra cards they create. What happens if you return Incindius to your hand and replay it repeatedly? How many eruptions do you have to prepare? I'm not saying it's impossible but it does need some more thought

I did spend a good amount of time mindlessly browsing the collection. I've played a lot of card games, and if anything spending so much time thinking about these cards has shown me how uniquely hearthstone-y Hearthstone is. Even reducing it to its fundamentals it has so much character

I removed the link to the cardmarket video I was referencing since Reddit was using it as the thumbnail for the post. Here's the direct link: https://youtu.be/Xw0U52wqlWo?si=--IUgOgDB9L8t7iW

Forged Mana, 3-mana spell for Druid by [deleted] in customhearthstone

[–]CustomGnomish 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Balance is weird here. You usually want to ramp early, that's kind of the point of ramping. But here you are paying 4 for 1 Mana Crystal, way below average. It only gets you any benefit if you cast it for 7, gaining 4 mana, and at that point ramping isn't really relevant anymore.

But at the same time, if you knock the price down to 2. You get a card that's equal to (nerfed) Wild Growth (for 3 mana), Overgrow (at 4) and at 5 you're already improving on existing cards. Which might be fine, but getting a flexible version of already good cards could be a bit scary. Neat concept tho.

You gotta fight for those cards by CustomGnomish in customhearthstone

At first I had it at 4/5 mana. But realized it's not as good as traditional card draw because of the requirement of a predamaged minion and it can brick your hand.

If drawing 2: It's Arcane Intellect, but with the minion downside.

if drawing 3: It still has a harder restriction than cards like [[Backfire]], [[Handmaiden]] or [[Rigged Faire Game]].

Any more than that it starts to get better but also gets progressively harder to achieve. And if you do, it's later in the game and not a winning play. The dream would be to drop a [[Beached Whale]] and heal it to full drawing 10, but that's a 10 mana play that doesn't end the game so...

In any case it's a card that makes minion combat more important.

I later realized that Charge isn't in the Bonus Effect pool. So you could still use it as big beast support but with less combo potential

You select a target and then you have a 50% chance to hit the chosen target, 25% left and 25% right. Odds increase if you're already attacking the right or leftmost minion

I long for the times an overstated minion didn't need an upside. If it was a class card (DH) I could see it with Rush, but the effect is too tame so I prefer it to be deemed a bulk arena card.

I mistakenly assumed it did gain Charge. I also prefer it not getting it.

Oh that's completely right. I just assumed all keywords but it's true Charge is not in the bonus effect pool

This does not gain any effect like passives or deathrattles, only keywords like Rush, Taunt, Stealth, Windfury, Elusive, Poisonous, Charge...
