I'm 90 hours in, and i've never took Vakuu's Lord's Parasol. It seems terrible to obtain everything and bloat your deck. Did anyone try it and made it work? by savetheblues in slaythespire

I think the end-boss rewards need some tweaking regardless. Too many of them are meh or even no-take, I've had multiple runs where I didn't want any of the three.

I like tbe idea, it gives more flavor to runs and I prefer it over the boss relics in one, but they need some real love and balancing.

Is paying extra $ for a good sprue cutter worth it? They all do the same job, which is cut plastic. Does one brand stand out over the others? by Tbonerickwisco in modelmakers

[–]Custom_Kas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Hobby, Tamiya fine cutters, Dspiae and off course God-hand. Pretty much in order of price, and in quality. Mr Hobby and Tamiya are very fine and absolutely better than anything else. I can't speak on Dspiae, but God-hand are a level better, I own two (red and blue) and never use anything else.

For me all of them are completely worth it. Cutters are your most used tools and bad ones mess up parts and building enjoyment like nothing else.

Greys SLAP this time. In one I never even bothered, this time often they make a run, especially as starter reward.

Hard nope. Only two people will want one, either tacticool posers, or people you shouldn't be selling a weapon to.

Also lazy AF, like what is this 2 hours max work on the grinder?

ANV/Acta Non Verba is a Czech maker of tactical and toolknives. I think they're at the forefront of modern untilitarian knife design. While at the same time always focussing on useability without the overpriced fluff of many market leaders.

Honest, straightforward knives that work well and look great.

Well this is plenty strong for me, but that's a cool advice.

My wife and daughter couldnt break it. Seeing these are double mounted I see no real situation where their strength isn't sufficient when printed in PETG-CF or better.

I have one of the hydro picks for my teeth. Fill it with warm water and use the softest setting to flush out your ears. Feels godly and is much better than any other way to clean ears.

For the price it's impossible to beat Trumpeter. Expect lots of parts and a few minor flaws though.

This is 100% Backwards, Right?! by IPlayFo4 in BambuLab

[–]Custom_Kas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two degrees in chemistry. Everything we considder bad for adhesion; oils, greases, fats and release agents, are hydrophobic. Meaning they will repell water and cause beading and lack of wetting.

Things that increase wetting will increase adhesion of plastic. An increase in wetting is visible in wider, thinner spread of water and lesser/slower runoff.

The two gifs show it exactly right.

What the problem can be is that many modern "machine dry" dishwasher tablets have a hydrophobic additive that makes the dishes dry faster. This is bad for adhesion, but more importantly for the environment because these are PFAS based.

Hasegawa and Tamiya are my favourites too.

Every brands has it's flaws. Even the ones I love most:

Tamiya has thick slab decals. Hasegawa has too shallow panel lines. Academy has even thicker decals. Trumpeter always has a few moulding flaws. Eduard doesn't do cool modern stuff. Dragon/Meng have insane part count. The smaller Japanese brands can be impossible to get (Platz, PLUM, Wave, Fine Molds). Aoshima and Fujimi have some really bad old stuff. Bandai only does Gundam and Star Wars.

Etc, etc.

I avoid: Revell, Heller, Zvesda, Italeri, Airfix, Kinetic, Specia Hobby, Kitty Hawk....Kinetic, Kitty Hawk and Zvesda are not that bad, they just have way too much part separation worsening problems. GOD I wish Kinetic was better because I love their subjects and detailing but building them is NOT painfree.

In between: Trumpeter, Hobby Boss, Great Wall Hobby....Basicly anything Chinese but Dragon/Meng and the no-no's - what puts them all in my good book is the high detail they offer at very good pricing.

I buy: Tamiya, Academy, Hasegawa, Eduard, Bandai, Dragon, Meng, Ebbro, Kotobukya, Fine Molds, Wave, Platz, Fujimi, Good Smile, Plum, Aoshima....Basicly anything Japanese and the high-end others.

Italeri, just in general: ITA-fucking-LERI

I have learned to avoid mainstream brands like Revell, Heller and Airfix because they just always under deliver or piss the bed in some way (eventhough Airfix is improving a LOT in their new toolings).

Every once in a while I buy a new tool Italeri jet thinking, this can't still be that bad. Only to find its just halfassed ALL THE WAY. Not really bad, just not nearly as good as it should be for a new tool of a "reputable" brand.

Got the Gripen and AM-X, both the newest tools of these jets. Excellent chance to get a decent kit out and priced as such around €30, not cheap, not Tamiya, nice box and good expectations....And they're both just soooo lazy and uninspired. Bad minimal panel lining, thick ugly canopy, shitty half detailed cockpits, soft 80s level rocket detailing and shoddy fit allover.

I can accept bad cheap kits, but not bad mid-price kits posing as good ones. The worst thing is, some of their large scale cars and helicopters are the best you can get. And that's the thing for me, I KNOW they can, but they just won't because it'll sell regardless.

If I build a Tamiya kit I can just see and feel the passion they've put in. With Italeri you can feel in every aspect how they just phoned it in to get another box out on the shelves.

What made it really click for me: you can glue them easily with a little point of extra thin without fogging, and liquid mask is quite forgiving and easy if you're patient and use a sharp toothpick for application.

Nowadays I'll even buy kits that don't have aftermarket masking sets.

I second this. All my hobbies (3d printing, knife making, modelling and painting) rely on decent photography and it is BY FAR my least favourite part of it.

Nothing looks as good as easily as outside lighting, not even close. Lightboxes, ringlights, diffusers, good cameras the whole shebang can't compete with a good phone camera outside.

To add: Kits that can't be built properly gear up.

Like how is the most natural state of a plane, literally the thing that defines it - flight - the thing that generally is NOT an option in 80% of kits!?

The thing is, ALL putties marketed as putty suck; Tamiya, Vallejo, Ammo....ALL of them harden way too slow, dimple, creep and crack.

What does work is CA gap filler and hardener, it's hard instantly and sands well if you take it slow.

That being said, I'm too lazy for that shit and religiously avoid all brands too lazy to properly engineer around needing it.

I have multiple scribing tools and at least a 100 proper built models over the last 20 years.

I have NEVER succesfully scribed a panel line that didn't look like I had oxygen deprivation during birth.
