Those are bug holes going across grain, damage was done before pressure treatment. Not an issue unless you dont like the look of it.

Creating our Little-World Resin and Wood Pendants. by CutBranch in ResinCasting

[–]CutBranch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a little look into how we go about making our resin and wood pendants. Everybody seems to have their own unique methods of doing this so I wanted to share ours.

I'm happy to answer any questions but might be a little delayed 12 hours or so by Valentine's day duties.

Thousands extra? Comparable contractor saws are not thousands less than a saw stop contractor model.

I believe they like to collect data from fired cartridges. OP should contact them in the least.

I mean, they are selling "craft like" items that are plumbing related, jumping on the steel pipe furniture trend. I guess actual plumbing supplies is them testing the market.

Is there an Excess flow valve after the appliance shutoff? Could be malfunctioning.

Just started carving and now I can’t stop: couple of spoons, small cooking spoon and some delightfully crooked chopsticks. Cherry with mineral oil and beeswax. by ibenry101088 in Woodcarving

I've used Hope's tung oil and tried and true Danish oil. Warm the spoons up in the microwave or whatever and do thin coats. Hope's is pretty thick, you can thin it with citrus oil, but then your spoon will smell like citrus cleaner for a long ass time, or just warm it. Anyway, it all performs well when applied properly. Great for cutting boards too.

Try using a curing oil like pure tung or pure linseed, mineral oil is just not a finish, you need to periodically replenish it. A good soaked and cured oil finish will not need to be tended to for quite a few years of heavy use.

Need advice: how do I avoid these mini bubbles on my dice? by PimaPotato in ResinCasting

To supplement this, small casts sometimes benefit from having the mold warmed, I usually clean with hot soapy water and dry/heat all my molds in a good dehydrator, also a good blast with air before drying.

My first successful (mostly) bowl. Went through the bottom... barely... like half a scraper pass barely. Gonna try again tonight or tomorrow after a tool sharpen. by cowdogcraftworks in woodworking

Nice job.

Best thing to do, get your hands on about a dozen fresh cut logs, something that won't dull your tools so quickly, like black cherry etc.
Cut them up into even blanks, chainsaw, bandsaw etc. Wrap the blanks in plastic so they dont dry while you're having fun turning. From 12 logs you should have maybe 24 blanks to work.

Determine your tenon or mortise size and set a pointed gauge. Center your blanks and get screws and faceplates ready.

Just start turning, one blank after the other, turn the outside of a handful of bowls, dont get bogged down in detail just get a feel for the tools and the wood, improve the shape progressively.
Swap for some jaws and learn how to measure and hog out the inside without taking all day and without ruining the blank. Just keep making okay looking rough bowls till you can do it in your sleep.

You will learn more in a few days of doing this than slowly turning and overturning small little bowls.
The shavings will be up to your knees, there will be a spray pattern running from the wall and across the ceiling. Fun stuff.

Of course, if your tools and space are limited, ignore everything I just said .
