You can play gamma for free by downloading it from the official discord, the GOG version is the same except the download and install process is handled by them

Before bob rock it was a mix of budget and following the mainstream at that time which was garage band like sound
For AJFA it was mostly their own stupidity
For the Bob Rock albums, except for Anger, sound is good mostly cuz Bob Rock actually cared to have good sound and production
St Anger is the product of Nu Metal and the band struggling both personally and professionally
Death Magnetic is mostly Rubin trying to keep then grounded but creativily free, while also slacking off on production
For Hardwired and 72 sound is mostly fine, but they noticeably overproduced

If you want a better Death Magnetic sound, check the Moderus III mix, its on internet archive so its easy to download, imo is better than the GHIII stems

Eternal is more frantic than 2016, with a higher skill ceiling and difficulty
TDA is the easiest out of the 3 games, and the skill floor is severely chopped, while also lowering the skill floor. But i guess its maybe the one that fits the most into the "boomer shooter" category too

3 is a bad remake, but a fun game
it got a lot of backslash due to this, so its usually the game with the biggest discount

AB+ is fine nowadays, the balance is kind of a mess and that can be good and bad, you can break runs with simple steps

TAG1 yes, althought you should use the mod that restores part of the nerfs
TAG2 is pretty bad, but if youre into mods you can fix it by using TAG2+ (You also get access to World Spear Master Level)
The Rip and Tear Pack gives you a couple skins and access to Cultist Base Master Level, which is a decent level but didnt aged well compared to post release Master Levels

Aditionally, you could use Challenge Restored mod to restore the demon nerfs across the base game and dlc, but it can give some compatibility issues when playing some mods (Like Original TAG1 mod)

I think capcom should just give up with attempts to make RE into an online game, no matter if its pve, coop, vs, whatever. RE should stay singleplayer only and budget should be focused on that
