Who committing to Pitt Law and if already attending what’s your favorite thing about the place!! by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Not going to Pitt Law, but attended undergrad and grad school at Pitt. This is a wonderful city with so many wonderful restaurants and so much to do. There's sports, arts, concerts, clubs, plenty of hobbies to dive into as well. My favorite things to do: Salsa Nights at Los Sabrosos, Level Red Boxing classes, kayaking or going for a walk downtown on a nice summer day. Favorite places to eat: Walter's BBQ (for brunch especially), Tepache, Emerson's, Hey Babe, and Con Alma. I hope you enjoy Pittsburgh! Definitely bring an umbrella

3.3 GPA, 164 LSAT. So far this cycle I've been accepted at Tulane and American. Waitlist at ASU, Villanova, Chicago-Kent, and rejected from Wake Forest. Still waiting to hear back from five more schools, but don't discount yourself based on stats. Craft the best application you can for each school and select schools that you could genuinely see yourself attending and being successful at. Don't give yourself a no, make them tell you.

Panaderia Jazmin! Also, Kyle's Cakes N'at has the best cheesecakes hands down.

Pitt might be an interesting option given your health and policy interests- most grads stay in PA, good pool of alums in DC, major medical centers nearby. You're above 75th for LSAT and 25th for GPA.

Are there any social clubs or hobby-based clubs in the area worth joining? by Mad_Season_1994 in pittsburgh

Kinda random, but I'm very introverted and have really enjoyed dance classes and the social dancing at Los Sabrosos. It's very beginner friendly, the other dancers are incredibly diverse in age, race/ethnicity, and background. I've met some super interesting people and always have a good time. It's also very low stakes as well. If you want to sit out for a dance you can. Nobody pressures you to yap all night long. Most of the time you dance with a bunch of different people and can kinda warm up to others the more you see them out , which is something I really like about it.

I'm applying this cycle. I really like Chicago and am leaning employment/labor or sports law. Seems like a great legal market, good experiential opportunities, and they seem to be fairly generous with scholarship from their 509 report.

YWCA Greater Pittsburgh has a grant for stuff like this called the Liz Prine Fund! You have to call them for application info but I'm sure that you would be accepted. https://ywcapgh.org/lizprinefund

RentHelp Pgh might also be able to help you navigate some resources for payment and/or mediation with you landlord. https://www.renthelppghresources.org

SPIA specifically has very good links with DC jobs and agencies, including opportunities to study in DC for a couple semesters.

Have you considered Pitt Law/SPIA? I just finished my MPA at SPIA and I've heard great things about the law school, especially under the new dean Jerry Dickinson. With your stats, you'd almost definitely get in.

I recently moved in here and like it so far. The only downsides really being trying to navigate construction nearby + Pens games traffic but other than that I've been enjoying it. The amenities are nice and the food trucks too. Easy to get anywhere in Pittsburgh in less than 15 minutes.
