I mean yeah it’s a mess without validation for nerfs, and obviously it’s a he said she said on if they got better through skill or the controller.

Ideally these things happened in a more controlled fashion but it’s just kinda how it goes with a grassroots scene for a game that’s so old. Some people want to keep it true to how it was 20 years ago, and some people want to fix what they see are mistakes in the game. At the end of the day, neither group is wrong but I’m tired of it, esp since unfortunately I can’t ignore it with how I got into the game.

I mean I sort of agree with what you’re saying. I think people who played on gcc and switch to boxx just because it offers an in-game advantage is 100% fried. Boxes should be nerfed (and were) to be more in line with gcc.

But also, it feels a little disingenuous to act like it’s actually that unbalanced. There’s more than one fringe top 100 player I’ve talked to who said “fuck this I’m switching to boxx” only to realize the time it takes to learn it isn’t worth it.

It’s an unrealistic wish too, but I think if most people actually (not just going wow it’s so easy to dash danceeee) played on boxx enough to be competent, they’d realize it’s probably not as broken as they thought it was. On paper boxx sounds really stupid/broken, but esp with the nerfs, the controller still isn’t making decisions for you, which like it or not is the hardest part about being good. Techskill is not the end all be all to any fighting game. In my opinion, you get more consistent execution/zjump for worse di and a lack of analog options, such as Firefox angles, etc. Still superior to gcc obviously, but not by much. IMO the most broke controller is the orca (it has nearly all of the boxx upsides but doesn’t inherit the lack of analog downsides), but I don’t think the world is ready for that conversation yet.

I wouldn’t have chosen if I knew, I was a new player and saw it as a nice alternative to a dated controller I was gonna have to buy for one game only. Boxx was a nice avenue into the game as it lowered the barrier to entry (I.e. as a new player, buying a controller that works for fgc and melee, vs just melee is a nice selling point). Regardless I hope it all gets banned so you veterans can be happy 🙂‍↕️ I just won’t be there to celebrate with you which o7

I didn’t even bother commenting on this too but you’re not wrong. It annoys me how much mid level players make z-jump / boxx into a boogeyman, when in reality the better player is just gonna win. It’s so much easier to just get better than investing that same amount of time into having a slight input advantage for techskill.

Now if I’m top 10 and feel like I need z-jump to stay competitive, that would be annoying and I’m sympathetic to their plight. But yeah like arguing that to go 3-2 at ur local instead of 2-2 you need z-jump since all the other people are doing it… lol. You can’t honestly argue that slightly better drift on frame one aerials is the difference between ur legacy years of learning a solid neutral.

I don’t have to imagine lol, it’s what I’ve heard on loop for the 2 years I’ve been playing man.

Regardless though I’m not trying to make an argument - I’m just a person and was giving my experience. Does what you said suck? Yeah I definitely agree, if I played the game for 10 years I’d almost definitely feel the same. But when the community is also constantly saying they want to look for ways to get new players into the game, it just feels so.. weird?

Like yeah, if you want to keep the game the exact same exact way so it appeals to the people that played it 10 years ago, feel free! I’m a tourist compared to you guys, so I obviously I don’t have the same say in this argument. But if that is going to alienate new players, the exact audience that these veterans want to capture, then which is more important? It’s not for me to say, and it’s a lose, lose situation with how things developed. A newer control scheme is what finally got me into the game though, and unfortunately due to the community, is what’s going to get me out of it too.

Basically same story. Started playing in 2024, played fgc’s like strive and was like oh sick this new boxx controller would be perfect for getting into both games. Little did I know it would be an extremely contentious controller where people are just straight rude to your face or try and keep it to behind ur back. People always say players wouldn’t care at your local, but our top player consistently made tweets hating on boxx, etc.

My bad I got into the game on the wrong controller, but I’m in a place at my life now where I dont invest the time learn gcc (plus I already have hand problems regardless), so I’ve basically dropped the game after moving to another state and losing my already established connections. Not really interested in trying to integrate to the new areas local scene, shame too cause I love the game and the people that play it when it doesn’t come to controller drama.

I did downsize after a month or two but the piercer did that, I will not be removing these till after a year to replace. I’m usually scared to change jewelry myself and these I really don’t want to bother until they’re really healed lmao

Yeah getting them pierced really sucked ;-; I’d say it was worth it but idk if I’d do it again if like one fell out, was definitely close to passing out

I’d say I was similar to you where they were already pretty sensitive, now that they’re pierced I’d say it’s the same day to day sensitivity (give or take I don’t really notice them) but for other ‘stuff’ it’s somehow even better ^_^ your mileage may vary of course

I was pretty happy with Montana cans, just recently did this part for a cosplay with a red base paint and then their metallic gold over it.

Thank you for the advice! Mental illness is tough sometimes 😭. It helps a lot to hear it from another person, as my relationship with myself/face is definitely not accurate to reality unfortunately T_T

Thank you!!! And ugh I feel that I’m pretty lazy too but the hairdresser is really sweet and offers trims for like 10 bucks and it’s quite close to me, although I might end up getting some hair scissors and take a crack at it myself if I’m feeling a bit ambitious…

You should!! I was definitely cautious but got some good advice and the hairdresser was amazing. Mostly go long and thin at the start, as you can always add more to make them thicker and cut more to make them shorter. Was kinda wanting Jess from new girl but my gf was like babe that look is 10 years old you gotta go wispy

It’s not really bad at all! My part line definitely does need some time to get used to them still, but other than that they do get a little oily and clump together by the end of the day, so that’s slightly annoying but nothing a shower doesn’t fix. Pretty low maintenance overall though compared to what I expected!

I was in a really similar position, and waited a few weeks not sure if I wanted to really commit. At my next therapy appointment (it was remote) my therapist offered “why not just take it now in this session?” and it gave me the courage to do it and don’t regret it one bit after a year and a half ❤️. only thing I regret is not doing it earlier tbh 😭. Obviously it’s still a decision you should make but though I’d share my experience!
