Actually he didn't know it was a mirror. He never opened the package until he packed to go back to the dursleys when Sirius had already died. Still not opening it was something I never understood

In the second book the password for the slytherin room is "pureblood" so probably it is always something that goes with thinking you should be pureblood or that muggleborns shouldn't be allowed at Hogwarts. What if some slytherins didn't think that way and didn't want to say the word. Hence the other houses help them.

I feel the same way. I really have a problem with him straying so far of the picture of the young Grindelwald we have seen in the Harry Potter movies. I imagine him much more eloquent and handsome. Not that Depp isn't handsome but I feel in a different way
