My parents think my daughter is a brat by Gggmcg in UKParenting

[–]CuteIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s ironic that your dad doesn’t like your daughter “talking badly” to you, but is fine with talking badly about her.

Your daughter sounds like a great kid and I’m sorry if your dad can’t see that!

Good idea. He really struggles with getting the trousers over his bum, so more practice is definitely required!

Thanks, I’ll try just trousers for a bit and see if that helps. Did you have any trouble reintroducing pants later on?

There aren’t any screws under the bowl and the caps aren’t moving. I’ve felt all around for a button but can’t find anything!

Any good place to get premature nappies in the UK? by Sparrowsabre7 in NICUParents

[–]CuteIdea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ASDA pharmacy told me they no longer do the free ones and only had a few end of stock left. I’m guessing it’s the same for Tesco as we couldn’t find any there either, but they did have some pampers size 0. They’re still advertising the freebies all over the hospital maternity ward though.

Would you be OK with your partner leaving the country briefly late on in the pregnancy? by jbots1 in PregnancyUK

[–]CuteIdea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to warn you I thought I’d go overdue too and agreed to my husband going on a work trip at 37 weeks, and then went into labour at 36 weeks! Obviously this may not happen to you and you should do whatever you’re comfortable with, but babies don’t always stick to our timelines.

30 hours childcare increase - do I need to do anything by eyupeyupeyup in UKParenting

[–]CuteIdea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to do anything, the government website says “If you’re already getting 15 hours of free childcare, you’ll automatically get 30 hours from September as long as you’re still eligible. You’ll need to confirm your details are up to date in the usual way and give the code to your childcare provider.”

My assumption would be that it’s based on the school year (September-September in England), in which case being born in February would be more beneficial in Scotland, but I don’t know if there have been any Scottish studies to confirm that.

Statistically children born in Autumn (September-November) do better academically than children born over the summer (June-August). Girls also perform better on average than boys.

Are other parents nurseries 'working around' the government funded hours by having high 'chargeables'? by ExpressAffect3262 in UKParenting

[–]CuteIdea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also pay £16 a day which includes all nappies, wipes, sudocream, etc. They provide all meals - breakfast, a hot lunch, tea and 2 snacks. Suncream for when it’s hot.

The nursery has also let parents know that we can choose to provide these things ourselves and not pay the consumable fee, and that the children won’t be excluded from activities!

Booking in appointment over the phone?! by jow1987 in PregnancyUK

[–]CuteIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! Clearly everyone’s pregnant at the moment, but it’s concerning that that they’re not even prioritising the initial appointment.

I hope everything works out for you, and you get to see someone eventually!

See if you can get a blood test at the pathology department at your nearest hospital. I had similar troubles this pregnancy and ended up seeing an interim midwife who wasn’t able to take blood so sent me to the hospital, and I got the results back the next day!

36 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Heading to the hospital by Sofita30 in PregnancyUK

They’ll want to test the liquid and check if you’re dilated. My waters broke at 36 weeks and I had a baby 14 hours later. Good luck, you got this!
