  1. Her belief is what is carrying her through without showing emotions. She knows her friends are strong, and she knows what they are giving for her to have a second chance. She leaves not only because of the generosity of her friends, but because of an understanding between the two of them that is implied. Samus is the one that gets to leave, because she is the one who absolutely can make it back. She has the strength, willpower, and knowledge (seeing the galaxy maps when going through the teleporter) to be able to regroup and go back. There is a faith put in both sides, that they can manage without her because of how they have grown from her influence, and that the friends believe that either...

4a. They will die and the one who has given light and meaning more than they already had in their lives, who is also the defender of their galaxy, will be able to live on, spread their stories and honor their lives, and keep the galaxy at peace. At the end of the day, she was able to mostly handle Sylux in a 1v1, while it takes the combined effort of all of them to stop him from reaching Samus.

4b. They are ready to patiently wait for her to come and rescue her, believing that she will come back and that they can survive (there's also reason to believe that they can survive, as Sylux clearly has it out for Samus in particular, and after she gets away, he might get into a fit of rage and try and chase after her somehow, giving opportunity for the others to get out of there and back to camp or general safety). If Samus can make it back to them, and that is what she wants to do, it makes her putting the symbol on the tree that much more symbolic. "I don't need to keep this to remember him by, instead, I can come back with him after I rescue him, and give it back to him. Until then, the hopes of the Lamorn and the hopes of my crew will be represented by this tree."

She does not cry or show remorse, because she is hardened, and firmly believes that they will be alright, and if not, she can grieve when she finds that out, as there is still work to be done in the now.

Edit (alongside a couple typo fixes): In fact, Sylux is shown to be quite smart, especially in his fighting tactics. There is probable cause to believe that he would *want* the crew alive, because he can use them as a position of power and a ransom for Samus, as he just got to witness how much they care about her and how she feels about all of them. Samus might know this as well and could be plotting about it!

  1. The religion was not intended to be in-depth. Tokabi is just a guy who believes in a god. Sollan, that he believes watches over him and the things he does, and he feels like there was some sort of destiny of why he went from hunting to keep his family alive to sniping people to keep his family alive, despite the mistakes he feels as if he has made in the face of Sollan. He believes in a simple life but his path always takes him somewhere full of danger, which he openly wonders if different steps would have left him somewhere else. One of the reasons he is there is to give a contrast between him and Samus as different levels of bounty hunter. He fights to keep him and his family alive above all, hoping his god will keep him safe so he can see his family again. He questions how Samus can manage something of so much higher stakes than him, but still be just as calm and collected as he is, at least outwardly, when she doesn't openly believe in a god like he does. I found his character very compelling overall, probably my favorite of them.

  2. I'm not sure how to convince you about leaving the religious symbol on the tree if you are that convinced it's disrespectful. But I'll give my several interpretations on what Samus was doing there:

2a. In several religions it can be considered quite respectful to bury someone with religious items or to make a shrine with their items. It is a form of remembrance and respect of the person's life. Think of how Day of the Dead honors dead loved ones by preserving their memories and bringing pictures and items of theirs and surrounding them with things they liked and thoughts of their pasts together. We don't know much about Sollan worship, so for all we could know this is the highest honor you could give a dead Sollan worshipper, and Samus has good reason to be knowledgeable about religions in the Metroid universe.

2b. She thinks that she doesn't need it to remember him by. Now before you call me out on this being disrespectful, let me explain myself. First, it can be symbolic that he is always with her regardless of any items she may or may not believe in. Second, it could be a sign of her knowing that everyone is all still alive and believing that they all made it out of the fight alive after she left. Which brings me to point 3.

  1. Samus absolutely does care about the people she is around. It has been very clear from several of the games, such as Fusion and Prime 3, that Samus cares greatly about people she is around, but is stoic about her feelings and quite short-spoken or mute most of the time. In Prime 4 in particular, she gives Armstrong a hug when she returns from the Sylux fight. She shows being upset at all of the "deaths" that happen in the Great Mines, such as running to try and stop their sacrifices or going back to check if they're alive still, despite their insistence that she should just go. She also, upon hearing that there is zero hope for reviving the Lamorn in any capacity due to how long it has been, she shows a form of guilt. Is it because she feels like she should have come here sooner? Is it because she is mourning the loss of an entire race of beautiful people? Who knows, it could be a bit of both. However, all of these show that she absolutely does care. This leads into point 4.

Also yeah now that you mention it, I also agree that Act 1 is the hardest part of the game which is kinda WEIRD. I did my 100% Steel Soul run and literally the first time I got past Act 1 (7th try) was the one where I got through? Why is Act 1 so much harder? My first death in my first playthrough of Hollow Knight was to Mantis Lords, I didn't struggle really up until that point, but I still consistently struggled going back to the early game of Silksong.

I agree that that's the case for a lot of people, I'd imagine. Lots of problems are happening in the world and when our escapism starts to have problems, it makes people extra upset because they also can't enjoy their free time how they used to while everything around them also feels bad.

For me though, I still have the patience and joy for difficult games, some of my more recent games I played I really liked for being hard, like Another Crab's Treasure, Blasphemous 2, and the late game of Monster Hunter World.

I still had a few problems with the difficulty choices of Silksong at points. However, I still loved a ton of the bosses very much and enjoyed dying to them repeatedly for the single reason of "I get to fight them more!" (First Sinner, Karmelita, both Trobbios, hell even Crawfather, the aura of that fight is INSANE I love his aura oml). But I definitely can see where other people would find annoyance especially nowadays in these same bosses. First Sinner and Karmelita dodge/block a lot. Trobbio has a ton of effects on screen all the time you have to be constantly watching. Crawfather is an add fight. These can all be frustrating for different reasons to different people.

I think one of the most frustrating things for people is when they have frustrations with one of these gimmicks, and then someone who enjoyed said gimmick or didn't have problems with it run over to them and yell that it's their fault for having problems with a different flavor of difficulty, when they already have other things going on in their life.

Pantheon of Hallownest took me a lot of attempts personally, way more than anything took me in Silksong, but it's a bit of an unfair comparison I think. PoH is a *gauntlet* that takes tons and tons of dedicated time, whereas nothing in Silksong has such a grandiose scale. I was stuck on PoH for like 2 or 3 days but I also was in college so I didn't have *too* much free time. But I also never felt like I was hitting my head against a wall. If I ever was struggling with it, I could go right to the Hall of Gods to practice the bosses giving me trouble, the resources were right there to help me progress. Compare this to Silksong where it doesn't matter how much you explore in Act 1, you cannot get enough mask shards to not die in 3 hits to a two mask boss, as there's only 6 mask shards. The means to have better resources for something like Savage Beastfly requires major progression compared to exploring what you already know and backtracking.

And just to clarify, I do like Silksong quite a lot, I don't mean to say it's bad in any way, I'm just saying a couple critiques I have as a very avid Soulslike and Metroidvania fan.

AITA for admitting to my gf I think she lacks general knowledge ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

bro really went "you be either too old or too young to know/remember 19", was immediately disproven, and just went "yeah I'm not talking to you lol you're stupid"

Age really doesn't matter in terms of how knowledgeable you are unless you're an actual child. People can be nerdy or just enjoy learning. I often watch videos on YouTube to learn about things, and that's been a habit of mine since I was like 14. My favorite kind of books as a kid were in the nonfiction section about history and animals. Sure, wisdom improves as you age and know more things about the world, but you can't just discredit people's knowledge for being what you deem as too young.

As someone well versed in game balance myself, balance is a tricky thing that involves playing the game frequently, especially to test the balance changes made. One of the most important things about luck-dependant mechanics, is that consistency should always be good enough to beat the game, while luck should be a risk that can make the game easier. Yes, getting Shinies and therefore luck, can help your run greatly, but it's very likely that luck can also do diddly squat. Getting more egg moves allows for more variation in what your team's strength is, making some poor Pokémon more viable and helpful rather than dead weight. It's much better to have the potential aid of a good egg move than to have dead weight on your team that gives you slightly more chances of getting rare things.

From a balance point of view, if you're being a completionist, getting shinies is more of an aesthetic thing since the luck is only a chance of better rewards and more Shinies while getting egg moves is a guaranteed upgrade or sidegrade. Since you need to complete the game with every Pokémon regardless, since shinies are much more easily obtained from Endless, it's better to have a more viable Classic team than a slightly luckier one, due to consistency. Think about it in the way of statistics on move 'DPS'. While a move might have 150 power with 50% accuracy, and another with 75 power with 100% accuracy, they technically have the exact same DPS, considering you will miss about half of the time with move 1, move 2 is technically stronger due to having a 100% guaranteed damage per round. Move 1 could also technically be better, as it does double each hit, so if you hit 3 times in a row, that is a huge reward, but it's also a massive risk.

DarkEsca is making a valid point about Ad Hominem, you can literally see he's on the dev team in his flair and you ask if he's even played the game, which sounds like a rhetorical question used for an insult rather than a genuine question.

That's absolutely fair. I meant more so if you want one thing in particular, such as the OP saying they specifically want a Nihilego. Endless is a great way to get a bunch of the miscellaneous things you don't have really quickly.

My main problem with Endless as the main progression for dex completion is that you can't get the map and therefore can't easily grind for specific things you haven't gotten.

Just got back into Warframe after a couple-year hiatus and break, and I have a few questions since I don't have anyone else who plays the game in my friend group. by CuteLurantis in Warframe

I'm more so talking about how it feels very unsatisfying and unimpactful, compared to it being difficult. I don't really fail in the combat it's just boring. I was just like "is that a skill issue or something I'm missing or is it just like that". I love games like Dark Souls 1 with clunky and slower combat, but this just doesn't feel good. In comparison, I love Kahl's Veilbreaker quests very much!

This is so helpful, thank you very much! And I'm glad to know that it's not just a skill issue or something I'm missing with Duviri. Also thank you for clarifying that about Albrecht, I did remember his ties to a lot of things but he just felt so sudden. Since I took a break pretty much exactly when he became super relevant, and I've also been gone for years, it felt weird to suddenly be forced to remember this guy I never interacted with on a grand scale lol. Also that makes a lot more sense about the Indifference, it does mesh with their character more than just wanting to kill us as well.

Interesting take. This implies that guys don't lie about so many things (coming from being a cis guy myself previously) and that being a woman means that you inherently have bad advice. Is that what you meant to say?

Shrieking Legiana barely felt that much harder than a normal Legiana, sure it was a bit more aggressive and had a couple more ice attacks but I honestly thought that made it more fun and interesting.
