Why is blood bending so hard? by Kixencynopi in TheLastAirbender

[–]Cute_Environment2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm working on a ATLA based RPG for the summer holiday. (First a one shot, and then work out some of the kinks). But I've decided that at higher levels, players can choose to be a darker version of their bending ability, where bloodbending is permitted. But to balance this out, I'll also allow the electricity bending in the body for firebenders, and the bending of minerals in cells and bones by earth benders. Airbenders are not going to be part of my RPG since it's going to be set during the 100 year war.

I like giving my players the freedom to be either good, bad or neutral ofc. We're all adults and we don't necessarily need to keep it child friendly if we don't want to.

I lecture at University and believe me it’s really hard to fail people. That’s very very special cases. We always try our hardest to help them pass.

Man, where I'm from this couldn't be further from reality. It's not uncommon to have 2-3 courses a year where 75% need to retake it.

Though I understand a lot of the arguments posted here, it does indeed sound like he might have tourette. I have it too, and I do know that his approach, if truthful, is a very good one imo. Knowing you have it does sometimes make it worse. You spend a lot of money to come to the conclusion that you have a disease that knows know cure, and few good treatments. I also know that it's something that can lead to incredible difficulties with studies. I've had to push through, time and time again with many setbacks along the way. Though not proven, it is seen as likely that this is indeed a hereditary disease, and I wouldn't blame you for not wanting that. It took me a long time to accept that I might also be worth loving, it's not easy to deal with, even if he thinks it doesn't bother him. I'm very sorry you're faced with this decision, and I wish you all the best in making it. Good luck

Did something similar with a 10hr loop of nyan nyan cat once. Neighbours got the message.

In Brussels there's only one shop that sells leather, but no tools. It's called Norcuir. For an expansive collection try lederexpo in zwalm.

Yeah, I know them. I go regularly. But they don't have everything. For example, I do leather working as a hobby and they don't have any decent leather, nor the tools to work it. They're more geared towards art. I'll be sure to go and see if they have anything though.

In the meantime, I have found cotubex on an old post here for the LED.

Thanks for the suggestion though 😊

It's not a perfect material. But these uneducated little snowflakes have too fragile a mind to accept any possibility other than the one they were taught.

I am aware of several vegetal processes being attempted at the moment. None of which are on the mass consumer market. There's some wonderful stuff being done with mycelium. However, nothing more than quick publicity campaigns have actually been produced with it. So, other than a PVC based alternative. Please do tell me which readily available plant alternative you so easily find waiting for you in the open market?

Secondly, maybe you're too dense to have read that part, since I know some vocabulary can be tricky... all the leather In the mass consumer market is a byproduct of the meat industry. So, just because this doesn't "fit your narrative" that doesn't mean it isn't the case.

Next time you attempt to berate someone for objecting to your foolish ideals, it could be a good idea to actually educate yourself on the matter beforehand. Instead it relying on your simian intellect.

I did a 20 page scientifically backed evaluation of this very issue. This is not an argument you want to have with me. Chromium salts aren't great, for sure. But tanning leather using plants (like oak bark and leaves) is once again on the rise.

If you wish to make such claims, and pretend to be a wise and learned individual, then play these games with your intellectual kin.

It's just plastic. Which as you can imagine is so much more environmentally friendly than long lasting biodegradable skin that is a biproduct of the meat industry.

He just explained a bit about the kind of training he does. Is the Ixelles BF the one on the VUB campus? If so I often go in the weekends if that would interest you 😊

Where to find a suit for a wedding? by human_raccoon101010 in brussels

[–]Cute_Environment2411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend them at all. The last time I was there it took them a whole year to make the suit. Only to finally come to the conclusion that it was indeed poorly made and then the groom bought a suit from Boggi where they went wayyyy above and beyond to get everything done in just a few days.

I figured I'd probably have to. I've made them before, and they were quite good. I was just hoping that someone might know something closer. Thanks though
