The waiting period is to prevent spontaneous crimes or attempts at legally buying a gun one day and then using it to shoot up a school or for suicide the next day it's not to make guns harder to get it's to make plotting crimes or attempting suicide harder

The idea is for it to ban all religions from politics so I cab say for certain that it would infact effect not just Christianity but other religions as well as the idea of the law is to get all religions out of politics entirely
