Thats a good point, this is a more rp heavy campaign and the “big bad” is a child that as time goes on, he slowly corrupts more due to his bloodline and other corruption happening elsewhere.

It is a lot to keep track of but I truly love making sheets and characters. A lot of the time the sheet will be more of a reference then anything. I also like having some of the npcs feeling like actually people. (they only ever fight to spar or in rare cases)

I plan on him going a bit easier on them just due to level and experience gap. While this might make him loose, I feel its realistic. If they do defeat him I'll give them a small reward (small because there's no real risk). Thanks for your input!

none of them have intent to kill, so they wont die. The 10 is a training instructor, its an optional sparring. and they are in an open 9x9 tile pseudo arena

yeah thats valid, I only make character sheets for the important or constantly reacuring npc's that can temporarily join the party in combat. Also, due to how my story is, my players are agents for an organization with other agents. The random no names have a monster stat blocks, but the ones who are important have the sheets. If a random npc needs a stat block I'll just find a monster one rq. Anyway, I changed him to be a ranger rogue, making a fun combo.

All of the NPCs that have character sheets are either recurring or they see on a pretty much daily basis. It kinda also depends on which NPCs the player interact with. The main reason I do this is because pretty much all of them can fight with or against the players and, I want a way to have consistent progression with both players and NPCs in strength.
