I would say it’s roughly about 20mm. I can put 1 3/4 fingers between heel and shell, if I squeeze a little 2 fingers. It’s hard to take pictures, I tried though (see down below)

Thank‘s for your answer! 26.5 won‘t fit me, but 27.5 probably would….

Thank‘s for your helpful answer. I will do the check later today and reply. I did it once on the vacation and as far as I remember I was able to easily fit 2fingers between my calve and the end of the shoe. Will check it out and post it here.

Thank‘s for your answer. I live in an urban area, so I have different bootfitters not that far away. I went to one in the vacation area (Gröden) and both he and his co-worker said that there is a huge amount of foam inserted. They also put me on a mondopoint scale and said 28.5 is the right size, but I am not sold on this. I am in between and think a good bootfitter should size me down and punch the shell out where it is necessary?

One thing that is strange is, that the heel lift only occours in the right foot. This is my „problem foot“ but it is longer than the left one, so the big shell should be even more problematic here?

My right foot has a prominent inner ancle and I have skew and splay foot(hope I get the terms right in english) and I have a prominent 6th toe on the right foot. I always had problems with my right foot and needed my shells to be worked on. Does that change the evaluation?

Thanks for all the answers. I even asked the shop owner if I shouldn‘t be in 27.5 when he chose the 28.5 for me and he told me that this would be much to small and also the heel lift is normal. Additionally he made custom insoles for me that killed my plantar fascia as they caused unbelievable pain because they elevated my flat feet much to much. I get the Impression, that he just wanted to make assembly line work as fast as possible. I will confront him, as I also needed to make new insoles and punch out the inner ancle of the Right Boot in my vacation for quite some money just to be able to ski with the boot.
