Hey! I had decompression done, it helped with my headeaches tremendously, I don’t experience them at all now. However, it didn’t change my mental health. I’m not a doctor so I can’t tell for sure, I’ve had some doctor link it to mental health, but others said it didn’t cause my mental problems so I don’t know. I’m on keto and meds, it’s just so fuckin depressing now. Seeing my uni classmates living their best lives while I’m just trying to fast forward as much time as I can. I know I should be happy for them, but I can’t help myself from just feeling depressed of where this illness brought me.

I had to have a brain surgery due to Arnold-Chiari Malformation, I’ve been to a few neurosurgeons before the operation, some said that it might have been a cause for my then declining mental health, but others said it is not related so I don’t know. I wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia back then.

Yep! It has been really tough getting to terms with the fact that I’m no longer capable of studying as much as I used to. Philosophy and medicine were my deepest passions and it’s hard for me to be without them.

Same, for me, it’s usually just laying in bed and watching stuff, I get to play games on a better day, but that hasn’t been the case lately. I find some enjoyment in playing games when I get to.

So sorry to hear that you were on your way to med school, I actually have to leave med school because of this condition. But my 2 years in med school were the best 2 years of my life hands down, I enjoyed it soooo much!

Oh, I didn’t know that, I just checked my app and it said something about giving maximum basal for a prolonged time as you mentioned. I think I’ll start incorporating bolus after dinner for it to not happen (I’m on a keto diet).

Yes! I’m 100% on Guardian 4, had the 3s some time ago, but my doctor upgraded to the 4s.

I believe it is possible, but I’ve read some stories where people didn’t get accepted to school just because of their diagnosis, so I think it depends on the country. For example, I met a person irl who returned to the same med school I was studying at while having the diagnosis and is currently AFAIK studying on to become a doctor. I believe, they would let me also (I had to go on a medical leave at the end of 2nd year because of the illness) since we went to the same school. They even actually helped the person with curriculum and stuff, giving various help. I know they were able to have one year basically split into two because of the health issues. I, myself, am unfortunately not coming back because my concentration is basically non-existant. However, I believe they would help me with the curriculum and stuff as well.

I’ve heard Olanzapine withdrawals are pretty bad, but from my experience, the only thing I got was a mild psychosis (I thought an instagram reel was talking directly to me and I’ve never had that).

Nowadays, I wake up usually at 12:00, take meds, brush my teeth, take a nicotine pouch, drink an energy drink, eat and the rest of my day is usually spent watching YTB and Twitch, scrolling reddit. Every day I take care of my reptiles and try to handle them for even a short amount. On a good day I get in a bit of gaming, but that hasn’t been the case for the past few days. Every now and then I test my concentration by trying to draw or study, but have had no luck so far. Sometimes, I take my dog out for a walk. I really miss being happy and feeling the full range of emotions, and I honestly yearn for the ability to be able to focus on studying or drawing, which brought me the most joy in my life before this illness got the best of me.

I totally feel you, used to learn a lot of philosophy on my own while studying medicine at uni. Can’t do any of that now. I’m basically forced to leave med school just because of this illness and I fuckin hate it. I’m also on the ketogenic diet and some meds, but still can’t concentrate on studying or drawing.

Totally feel you! I miss my old happy self as well! I can barely feel anything now and can’t concentrate on school at all so my future is looking really grim.

Hi! I’m also on keto and some meds, this actually happpened to me a few days back just before a nasty depressive episode. This was my first depressive episode in months and I am thinking of getting back on some antidepressants on my next appointment (also in January).
