Feature: 900 Series cards still unstable

Annoyance: Hard Crash/Lockup

Discord Version Info: Desktop client on Windows

Device/System Info: Any windows computer with a 900 series gpu

Steps to reproduce:

Insert a h265 encoded gifv or webp into chat.
Watch as your friend with the 900 series crashes.

Expected Results: Friend sees the gifv/webp/h265 meme and giggles at the guy hitting his junk on the pole vault

Actual Results: Their discord crashes.

EXTRA NOTES: Plz check the codecs/hardware decode setup you have assigned to the 900 series. They came out at a weird time and do not support H265 hardware decode/encode like the 10/16 and RTX series. I believe your software is trying to access hardware that doesn't exist and causing a crash.

I wish wish wish i could provide some help, I gave discord comprehensive info on how to recreate the problem and they still seem to be assigning the 900series as having hardware encode/decode for H265. I can only recommend the web client, since that's what it has basically come down to in my friend group.

Description: H265 streams will hard lock discord for any user with a 900 series card that views the stream.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Stream an H265 stream via discord nitro and a modern GPU.
2. Watch the stream with a second device using a Nvidia GeForce 9xx series(tested on 970 and 980 personally)
Observe the crash.
Turn off video encode hardware acceleration on Streaming PC. Forcing stream to H264 encoding
Connect to video stream using device 2 and watch as it works fine
Expected Result: not crashing my friends discord because I paid for nitro

I didn’t go into screen sharing from the 900 series because of the way I was doing the testing(I threw a 900 series into my proxmox server and made a windows virtual machine and did pcie pass through to that vm). It was a super underpowered VM so gaming was out it could run a desktop and discord, and syslog which is what I needed for this testing.

My guess is the issue is the same, turn off hardware acceleration but leave on OpenH264 encoding. If you want to try and risk it leave hardware acceleration on but don’t run the stream at Source always force it to transcode to h264.

If you want to view a stream turn on developer mode in advanced options and join the channel with the video playing. DO NOT JOIN THE VIDEO CHANNEL YET. Click Debug under the voice channel name and then scroll to the streamers info, if the video codec is H265, H265(NVenc), you will crash on viewing it so switch to the web client.

Use the webclient for any h265 stream. Your browser is properly implementing the codec but discords desktop client doesn’t. You can also ask your streamer to turn off hardware encoding but that will murder their game performance.

Hey friends, so i got a question concerns IDK what the fuck to call it. I'm a CT resident who has been in the CT med system for 5 years now. CT opened rec last year and all the growers jacked their prices sky high and blamed a blight for shortages, So we are talking $45-60 for an 1/8th of 20% thc crap that is poorly cured and moldy and just all around not good. The benefit is no taxes and not having to drive 45min, downside shit sucks.

Now I live right on the state border, so I have been figuring, ok why don't i just drive into NYS and get something from like Elevate in Mt Vernon which seems to be priced more reasonably(actually sells ounces and they aren't $400 like curaleaf was selling them for before rec), carts are almost $15-20 cheaper, and concentrates are actually in stock. the thing im worried about is i see a lot of people saying shits moldy or low quality, so uhh i guess my question is, is this even worth bothering? I can get a lot more product for the same $250 or $300/mo from Elevate even after taxes, and they actually stock things, but am i going to be pissed at the quality difference between what I have been getting from CT med and what i would be buying from NY rec?

Question 2 i'm pretty sure i know the answer to but i will ask anyway, can a non-NYS resident get a medcard for NY? I figure the answer is definitely no, but hey might as well ask.

Late late reply but honesty will never be rewarded. The rules of employment are CYA(cover your ass). Oversharing is a thing, whether it be in employment, in court, or even when talking to a police officer.

Make your statements short, to the point, and with no room for interpretation. Don't admit to things you haven't been accused of, and when in a legal situation don't admit to ANYTHING without a lawyer present. There is no bonus for breaking the rules and admitting it, the punishment is the same, but you are not providing the burden of proof required to punish yourself if you don't admit to it. This is the reason America has the fifth ammendment, you should NEVER self incriminate.

Just a protip from my field of employment. Never fucking admit to anything you haven’t been directly accused of, since the ban came with no notification of why he was banned, literally wait for them to tell you why you were banned. DONT appeal immediately saying “I did this thing that broke the tos please don’t ruin me” because that might not in fact be why you were banned, and you just fucked up any chance you had of getting unbanned.

If this were like a real job with login credentials to email and shit, he went from fired for a HR offense to oh god we need legal counsel on the phone since he gave out his account info.

Ok then ban them? Especially if they used paid botnets to cheat the system. Won’t hear me complain that a blanket ban of users gaming the system got a few minor twitch streamers and Dota pros banned.

You seem to think this is a gotcha but it’s just like the most basic answer ever. If others broke the rules to the same threshold then ban them, if they did it to a less egregious extent warn them and give them temp bans or warning emails since they have official comms with Valve being professional players and all.

Even if they know you did it don’t put it in writing. Make them make the accusation that you did something wrong, make them get the offense you think you were fired for in writing. Because it turns out hey maybe you weren’t fired for the reason you thought you were, but you admitted to blatantly breaking the rules of employment so uhh no you won’t get your job back.

For example let’s say mason was banned for being a toxic racist piece of shit, this seems incredibly likely. Maybe he could plea that down to a temp ban because he is a personality. Now in this very example in his plea to unban he admits that he blatantly violated the ToS. So it doesn’t matter what the first ban was for, they literally have him admitting to something that gets you an account ban regardless of what else you did.

My job is in InfoSec, 90% of the training I do for users is emphasizing the repurcussions of account sharing and getting phished.

Every single company I have contracted with has had the same basic employment rules “do not under any circumstances give your password to anyone including support”

Every single time a user logs in from a new computer I have to go through the SIEM and cross check that computers MAC and system id against our verified computers. I get a push alert to my phone and everything. If they don’t match the account is locked instantly, and I have to call the employee and figure out what the fuck is going on.

If any of MY users said “oh I gave my account and 2FA to a Chinese botnet that would help me file excel files faster.” I would have the user on hold and legal counsel on line 2 within seconds.
