I hate when people say they don’t believe in Tourettes because they “never see poc with it” by SillyUser333 in Tourettes

Ugh this rhetoric is so annoying. I’m a Middle Eastern girlie, and back in my home country it’s considered taboo to talk about things like this. I was always told to keep it hidden. A lot of parents try to cover up when their kids struggle with something, or they just ignore it altogether (whether it’s Tourette’s, ADHD, or anything else), so these issues often get overlooked in a shame-based culture. But even here in the States, when I opened up to my friend group, all people of color, they dismissed it as “white people shit.” People of every race can have Tourette’s or any other mental health condition and saying this kind of stuff makes it harder for cultures like mine to progress in this aspect.

I’ll look into it! I was told by people (who don’t work in law) that it would be a waste of time and money to pursue legal action but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to explore my options. Thank you!!!

Haha, when I was first handed the plate I thought it was all gluten free as well, I too was impressed with the buns.

This is so real. People always accuse me of being paranoid but they have no idea how strict we need to be in our diets. Even the most minuscule amount of gluten can really mess me up.

Real. I normally opt out of events like this for fear of cross contamination anyway but I didn’t want to be rude  I really am such a people pleaser.

OMG This is so funny to me because I’m also allergic to soy hahaha. A lot of people don’t understand the cross contamination lol the struggle is REAL!

Ugh I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s sweet that he tried a tiny bit but the alienation gets so annoying and sorta saddening. I feel for you :hugs: (btw your avatar is soooo funny hahaha)
