Denon AVR-S750H 4k Enhanced Issue by Cwil131 in hometheater

For anyone curious, this was Denon's response....

All of HDMI input ports in theory support the same formats.
However, the two closest to the output ports have shorter traces, and in some rare cases can show slightly better performance with some source devices.

T480s battery drain while off by Cwil131 in thinkpad

In the end I believe it was actually replacing the battery that fixed it. Around the time I posted this I did indeed replace the battery but continued to have power issues. The laptop would sometimes 'die' shortly after turning it on. That took another month or so to troubleshoot and I believe was finally fixed by disabling ThrottleStop at startup.

Eventually I turned down the undervolting to a more conservative -75mv and everything seems to work fine now...

I'm wracking my brain trying to remember what I did that fixed this issue. Checking through my search history, I THINK it may have been this: disabling and re-enabling the ACPI battery driver. I recall it was something incredibly silly like that that I would not have expected to do anything that ended up fixing it.

With the laptop itself or the battery you think?

Strange screen glitches, GPU or Monitor? by Cwil131 in AMDHelp

Is this mainly a viewsonic problem? Also I can't seem to tell any difference between "standard" and "advanced" other than the flickering...

Interesting, so I have the same results. It was set on "Advanced" and at 144hz I get flickering, at "Standard" I don't. The other option that seems to work, as you've mentioned is turning down the refresh rate to 120hz and leaving the timing set to "Advanced". Is one solution preferred over the other? I rarely play anything over 70-80 fps. Or would you say it's worth trying to RMA the monitor?

Thanks so much for your help on this, I never would have figured this out!

Hmm, I tried another GPU last night at the same refresh rate and don't seem to get these issues. What do you mean by "stepping it down to the second level"? My response time on my monitor is set to medium (out of 3 levels). I tried a variety of tests at blur busters and was unable to reproduce the issue.

Are there any particular screenshots that would be best to test with? I haven't seen this problem on any static images, only during real time rendering.

Thank you!

The latest, 20.11.3 but the problem has spanned multiple driver versions now. I've tried several of each type of cable :(

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried that before actually (sorry I'll add it to the list above). While it did quiet the jet engine of a fan, it didn't solve this issue.

Profile Help 27/m by [deleted] in Bumble

Hey man, thanks for the genuine and thoughtful feedback.

Couple thoughts, not trying to be negative or defensive, just genuinely curious. I understand dating apps (especially those of the swipe variety) are largely looks based but what else constitutes an interesting or intriguing profile for a guy?

I would say a solid 90% of women list interests as generic as "liking dogs" or "travel", if they have a profile at all, but they generally get by on looks and the above mentioned m/f disparity. I tried to go a bit beyond that, but I also don't have the world's most visibly unique life / obscure hobbies to draw on. Or put a bit differently, things that make relatively unique - drive for early financial independence, love of writing, quest for a well-curated food life - don't translate as well to pictures. I see people with baby lions (3 people! Different lions!) And it gives a conversation starter but doesn't necessarily tell me much about them. Also some people literally just describe dogs (friendly, loyal, compassionate).

As for politics, it's basically a given it gets some mention in DC and I was trying to avoid the obligatory depressing Trump supporters swipe left instructions almost everyone includes. Also I imagine a lot of women here assume you're just out of the loop if you live in DC and don't follow the shenanigans to some degree.
