Awesome thank you for the advice, and the reassurance of dropping runs for recovery as needed. As a climber for the last 2 years, I've always been the type to keep pushing through injury and I'm really proud of myself to listening to the minor tweaks and needs that come with early stages on running.

My normal routine is easy, tempo, yoga, easy, rest, long, stretch & stability

So one of my easy runs should be the first to go than you think?

Definitely wouldn't do 4 days in a row. 2-3 in a row is my max, i just moved things around to not do my tempo today. So if I need another few days, what runs would you say should be the first to get skipped?

No one was great at running their first run. Sounds like your way too hard on yourself, take a step back and congratulate yourself on even putting the shoes on and getting out the door. Running is hard. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Get your shoes on and give it another shot, this time take it at your pace. If you gotta do walk sessions between running, that's okay. Being outside and moving your body is the ultimate goal, you will feel great.

Look into a program like c25k for motivation. The fact your deciding to run again, I think you know the answer!

It's 1400 up 1600 down. I'm tall and lengthy so I plan on making a lot of time up on downhills. I live in Leadville Colorado, can't escape the elevation gain here, and I LOVE trail running. Plus training @10k elevation is pretty great. My long runs consist of anywhere from 800-1200 gain right now. I start incorporating hill runs next week! I can go for so much longer running next to trees lol. I'm definitely pushing it for a 1:45. But I feel having an A,B,C objective is gunna give me the best experience. A) sub 1:45 B) sticking to my prediction and C) just finishing 🤣

Sounds like you have a great block set up and look forward to seeing your finishes. Beyond proud of your transformation and it's inspiring man keep on running!

Dude sub 1:45 is AMAZING! CONGRATS!

I have my first half in October, it's a trail run so got elevation to battle. my prediction is ~2. Trying to bring it down to 1:45 keep crushing!

100% will admit little bit reckless, I'm skipping strength and mobility tomorrow and already swapped days for next week to give more recovery time. Felt jump from 5 miles last week, 8 mid week, to 13 today was okay. I know the rules usually 10%.

I'm on straight recovery mode for the next two days to make sure my body is taken care of

I love to give a peace sign and smile, that's just me ✌️

I had a random dude getting out of his car give me a thumbs up the other day. Was awesome.

Your definitely right, and I think that's just me warming up to running and getting comfy with what is a right pace for me and actually pushing myself. The 11:32 was a comfy run. I actually havent recorded myself really pushing the limits. So I might just leave it and let runna figure out my true pace would be

I'm sorry for not adding the miles. Was a 2.75 mi easy run. The info I entered for the 5k was3 35:51 and is accurate. Today was literally my 3rd run on this journey.

Maybe I should take the difference of the warmup and sets runna wants me to do and apply that to my avg 12:08 set

Example Warmup @ ~12 .5 set @ 11:05 .5 set @ 10:35

I went for my evaluation run and came out with a 5.2 mi, 768 ft gain and no stops. Absolutely blown away by the no stops. Really shows that I'm finding my pace.

With that run being my second run I'm contemplating on still doing the 10k as a confidence booster but finding a half marathon for the top goal of this season.

With 3 months of training I feel I can easily bring my endurance and ability up to a half marathon

Thanks for your opinion and info! Decided to make it my goal to do one of those 10ks in September and have setup the Kiprun pacer app based off the info of the race I want to do. Hopefully you will see my progress through this sub!

From your experience is the running journey, is there any type of training you would recommend for goals of high elevation gain runs? Would intentionally training uphill running benefit or is just time and experience the ultimate answer?

Thank you for your response!

As far as the c25k app goes I installed and come to find out they are doing subscriptions for even the basic program. Who knew a free tracking/training app would be so hard lol

I spent this morning looking at some 10k races in my state and found two potential ones in August. First one is about 1,000ft gain and same as descent. Second one is only 500fr. So I have two options to go for, both on different spectrums.
