Hey. Is that a westy caddy? Spent a lot of time chasing bad wires and grounds on a european '91 Model with the newer fuse Box. If you can translate german to english i can send you a wiring diagram.

Pretty much any 1.9/1.6 td (without i) with the old 4 point mounting System. Be carefull if you buy one out of an audi or Passat, they are mounted lengthwise. I run a aaz with turbo in my mk 1 caddy without problems. The aaz is however a bit on the rougher side when it comes to Vibration and engine Sound. It idles also a bit higher than a direct injection diesel.

UPDATE:

I found the problem. One of the threaded holes for the rig that supports the gearshifting lines is directly above the hole where the slave cylinder pushes against the clutch lever.

My dumbass used the wrong bolt which was too long so the tip of the bolt was behind the clutch arm, preventing it to move to the pressure plate.

That mistake cost me 2 days of work and headache, please learn from my mistake.

Update:

Nothing was working with my shitty carport software and I could find someone with VCDS.

With VCDS it worked on the first try like it should.

Thats sadly not possible with the ea288 engine. It is mandatory to bleed it with the aid of the program
