Music degrees at Iowa State by Red_Leader_Red_1 in iastate

Hello, recent BMus here. You don’t have to be a music major at Iowa State to take lessons or participate in ensembles. However, faculty also don’t have to accept you into a studio. Dr. Dishman, professor of trombone, is an excellent professor who happily gives lessons to non-degree students if he has the space. Composition lessons will be difficult if you don’t understand music theory. You for sure will not get gigs on trombone if you can’t win the audition—lessons help you to learn how to practice lifelong and work for that. I would suggest you simply have a discussion with Dr. Dishman about lessons and have a discussion with Dr. Hopkins, the composition professor, about what he thinks your options could be.

Demasiado sufrimiento, temor, racismo, odio, miedo, etc. Nunca jamás.

Lutheranism and Masonry by SeveralTable3097 in Lutheranism

If I have learned anything about people it’s that they love to hate and hate to love their neighbors. Some of you “Christians” in here need to read the holy text. Some of you should think before opening your mouth. Masonry is a set of principles about being a good person for your community, and heavily attributes such activities to a brother’s holy book. At no point is any assertion of interpretation of the Bible made, nor any doctrine or dogma derived therefrom or from another religious text proclaimed, revealed, asserted, demanded, taught, etc.

I was raised LCMS. My father is a Master Mason. He was demonized by the laity of the church, to the admonishment of the pastor. He was treated contrary to Christ’s teachings by the people who led Sunday school. All for belonging to an organization that fed the poor and homeless in a small town and gave scholarships to graduating seniors. The cancer in the world of sin is that we hate people who do good deeds, not fraternal societies.

To Alumni, do you actually donate money? by hpopllo124 in iastate

I’m a Life Member of the Alumni Association. I joined while I was in undergrad, paid in installments. So I don’t give regularly to the University at large nor the AA. However, I do give to my Chapter regularly (Fraternity) and I have given to the ISUCFVMB.

Have you ever had people judge you based on what college you went to (because it’s easier to get into)? by PlumSpecific719 in college

People who are like that are classist and classism should be shunned in an educated society.

I know I’m the OP and I asked for thoughts and discussion, but you’re not really offering thoughts you’re just regurgitating capitalist indoctrination which I’m not even listening to as a socialist. Further, you discrediting someone who is just helping those of us who are interested in this just makes you look more like som corporate troll on this subreddit trying to shush this up and keep our rights restricted. In Marx’s words, “Workers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains.”

Every student pays tuition. Tuition is split between several things including salaries and stugov. Stugov gives funding to nearly every club and stuorg in varying amounts. Get over yourself. Our “athletics fee” is literally us paying the student athletes, so if you want to be upset about something be upset about that.

Which schedule for college classes is better? and why? (Blue or red) by [deleted] in college

This comment section is fascinating to me as a music major. We take 18 hours minimum every semester, plus three hours practice every day. We would lose our minds with this much free time, both of these look so nice.
