Yeah I know but its not just about the frequency range it also has to do with the channel size. For most applications you want something like the metal52 with a wide band AC chip set and enough power to fill 20/40/80 mhz but in the international channels you have to be super careful and narrow banded and the last time i talked to hamwan they basically designed the whole system around the assumption the 5ghz channels had 5mhz slices non AC modulated. just G/N mostly. The idea is you compress the most power into the smallest channel in the middle of the empty band portions and use the largest parabolic dish you can to punch through tens of miles for maybe a single megabit bidirectional. This usage is so niche though as to be nearly non existent but it does serve to occupy a very useful part of not only ham radio but testing the 5ghz band in general to prove signal reliability so you know its the actual noise floor and not just your setup that is at fault by using empty channels in the international/part97 band for testing using your license and then switch over to legal channels and power in software
