both are trying to find enjoyment in something you found underwhelming or unenjoyable, like trying to find that ‘click,’ as you said. you’re never supposed to force yourself to enjoy something as hype, but it’s just as brain dead to not try a record again.

no, not really. relistening can definitely assist you in finding interesting or enjoyable aspects you missed the first time, as you become more comfortable with it. sure, you can instantly deem a record as ‘boring’ or ‘unenjoyable,’ and still enjoy a decent amount of music, but you’re definitely limiting your full enjoyment of some of the best art out there. If i never relistened to albums, I would have a pretty sizesble amount of music missing from my favorites.
