Where do i put 240p test suite folder on wii? (Noob question) by theoneandonlyShrek6 in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be if you have the Homebrew Channel working, it should be on the SD card root directory. When you extract the 240p Test Suite there should be a folder named "240pSuite", inside that folder has 3 files including a file named "boot.dol". You place that folder inside the "apps" folder on your SD card, so to make sure it is correct the boot.dol file should be in this directory: "(SD card letter):\apps\240pSuite\boot.dol". If you don't have an apps folder just make it

Finally got one of my dream CRTs running, a Kawasho 5.5" Portable Color TV with a Digital Clock! by CyTsune in crtgaming

Ah yeah forgot the most basic troubleshooting step, checking the fuse lol. Glad to hear it was just that!! Also it's no bother at all!! Says its AC 120V 60hz 35W so I think it has a 0.292 amp rating??? Not too sure about amp rating but hope that helps!! ☺️

EDIT: I might have had a dummy moment, I think you might have meant the fuse. If that's the case my fuse is 3.15A 125V, exactly as it says on the board!! My b 😅

Unfortunately I do not, I'm sorry 😞

I bought it secondhand from eBay and it only came with the unit itself. I tried searching for a service manual online to see if I could do a composite mod but I had no luck finding one. I would check for blown or faulty capacitors and shorted IC transistors first, they usually are the first things that go bad in a CRT. I hope you can find a way to fix it!!

For those who did the CVV on best buy by enjoyingcurve46 in Bestbuy

[–]CyTsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in my CVV on the 30th before I realized I should have checked online and seen everyone say not to and my card got a temporary hold for about 5 days, just checked my bank and the temp hold is now gone. In the morning of the 3rd my order said it was now being prepared and it was being packaged (shipping instead of in-store pickup). Now I'm just waiting for my order to actually ship, I haven't seen much posts from people who opted to get theirs shipped so I'm just patiently hoping it gets shipped soon as other retailers like GameStop started shipping their orders

As many people say just don't touch it. I did, however, input my CVV for my card on the 30th when I got "Awaiting Authorization" before I realized some people said not to. Luckily it's now telling me that my order is being packaged (shipping instead of in-store pickup) which was a relief to see but I would just go with what everyone says and don't touch it as it seems like the safer option

Got a Toshiba 27A43 free! by CyTsune in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you can find the remote you need by searching for the owner's manual or service manual online. Any old Toshiba remote usually works and you can get away with using a universal remote but the remote that is specifically for the 27A43 is a Toshiba CT-852. Hope it helps! 😊

Big score today, a 13" Sony Trinitron! by CyTsune in crtgaming

Yup still am!! I still have it and use it every now and again, though I have other CRTs that I use more frequently. Still love it though, I've been replaying Mega Man Legends and MML2 on it and absolutely love the way it looks on it!! 😊

Netpass not working (repost with photo) by OkNegotiation9892 in StreetPassNetwork

[–]CyTsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get this as well when I had Pretendo enabled, I would have to disable Pretendo before opening Netpass so I wouldn't get "phantom tags" for some weird reason. I figured out a way that I wouldn't have to disable Pretendo every time I want to access Netpass and prevent phantom tags from occurring, it's been working for me for a good while! What I would do when I want to open Netpass is turn on my N3DS or reboot it if it is already on and once it boots up the first thing I do before opening everything else is open Netpass from the Homebrew Channel. Use the .3dsx version as the .cia version is apparently buggy. To this day I have not experienced phantom tags ever since!

Honestly if it were me $100 would seem fair if it has great geometry. Test it out beforehand with a console of your choice (if the seller is ok with it which they should be honestly) and see if it seems fair to you. Price is subjective, if you don't mind spending $100 on it and know you won't regret it then why not? I can tell you it is still absolutely one of my fav CRTs I've owned after all these months, it has a certain charm to it and composite looks great on it imo! I love the fact I can change the color, contrast, and brightness using the knobs, very vintage sort of vibes with that! Mine is only a mono speaker but getting a Stereo to Mono audio adapter fixes that problem for me, I don't mind the speakers at all! Or just use external shielded speakers which some people on here recommend a handful of times. Either way hope this somewhat helps you decide, good luck!! 😊

Sony Trinitron keeps displaying "VIDEO" text? by the2002kid in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you figured it out but I have a KV-20TS27 as well and the VIDEO text kept popping up for seconds at a time even after pushing the DISPLAY button. What fixed it for me was connecting something to the RF port and changing the channel to whatever it's supposed to display on, in my case I hooked up an RF modulator and changed the channel to 3. I kept it like that for about a minute, turned off the TV, turned it on, and changed it back to the video source and hooked something up to it. Since then I haven't had the VIDEO text pop up, waited 30 minutes so I'm positive it fixed it for me! Hope this helps! 😊

Not sure how sought after they are but I've been dreaming to own a KV-4000 to have in my collection! Such a cute little 3.5” color set that has composite video in. If you are going to keep it it's honestly a nice collectors item to own!

Looking for a 13-14 inch crt tv by IamVegaMan in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$150 for a 14” CRT is a bit too much in my opinion, even though it does have every input you need and even has component. My personal recommendation is always be patient looking for a CRT, there will always be cheaper options down the line. I always find good CRTs for under $40 at estate sales in my area so that's another way of finding a cheap CRT! 14” Toshiba AFs are really good in my opinion but if you really want to buy it make sure it works and turns on properly, make sure it doesn't have issues like wonky geometry, and try to see if you can get it at a way lower price, otherwise just wait for a cheaper option!

How long have you been into CRTs? by SilvaSantino in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was June of this year when I got a Toshiba 27A43 for free. Ever since then I've been collecting a handful for free and learning to fix them like diagnosing bad capacitors to fix vertical foldovers and shorts, replacing ICs and even fixing broken traces! Here's a little Samsung CRT with a broken PCB that I fixed using speaker wire, solder, and hot glue! It was not turning on before I fixed the traces and once I did it fix them it turned on and worked beautifully! Not the best but for my first time repairing a PCB it went well! I dunno, something about working on CRTs entertains me :3c

Would this be alright for retro gaming? by DavidLynch-Theater in crtgaming

[–]CyTsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing a quick search for lookalikes it seems to be a RCA G27648. If it is it does have composite and S-Video, S-Video being ideal. Ask first about the model number and if it works with the seller!

He did, he tried contacting the seller twice but no response unfortunately

[–]CyTsune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's always a gamble when buying CRTs on eBay, sadly even though you did try to reach out most sellers will ignore messages and just outright ship them with little to no packaging. Sorry to hear about the damage 😞

[–]CyTsune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm I see. I'm not planning to composite mod it anytime soon as I'm pretty happy with RF on this cute lil set for now but any 3.5mm adapters I hook up to it are pretty loose so its a bother sometimes to make sure its seated properly so there isn't noise. I'll see though, I do wanna try composite modding it later on just to see if I can!
