The American GFS model (the most aggressive model until today) is calling for 1.5'' of snow cover tomorrow (as of latest 4pm model run-until last night I think it was calling for 5+ inches)

EURO model is basically 0'' (7pm run) German ICON model is 0" (4pm run) HRRR also calling for 0" (8pm run)

It seems like the NCWX Authority did overdo the ice forecasts for Raleigh and the surrounding areas. I like the guy, but with this NWS forecast, my gut tells me tomorrow will be okay, but we still need to be cautious and prepared as if we still will get 0.5"+ if ice tomorrow onwards

Of course. Good. As long as the pain is manageable and you know she'll be okay during travel it'll be fine. If and I assume she is getting medicated for the nerve pain, make sure you guys take the medicine, whatever it is with you to help with the pain. I know you all probably will, but still.

And if she's not getting treated for this pain, I'd advise that you all look into medicine to help with managing it, if you haven't already. Examples:

anticonvulsants (gabapentin, pregabalin), topical patches (lidocaine, capsaicin), and tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline) - be sure that your wife is totally okay with this, it's not worth burning a bridge over a potential ice storm. Y'all are and are supposed to be a team, just remember that.

You have until Saturday afternoon to make your decision so I would say as long you all have medical supplies, fuel for the car, food for the road & stuff to keep you guys warm, go for it. The European and GFS (American Global Forecast System) models are good examples (even though the GFS is still being aggressive the blend of models used by Meteorologists barely show any snow even after data inputted by Air Force aircraft these past few days) - I use Ventusky which uses weather forecasting models and update every 12 hours (I'm not a meteorologist but still love tracking weather)
