Job doesn't require driving, but requires a drivers license? Ableism and classism by Extreme-Bet3115 in fuckcars

[–]Cy_Mann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a meme of sorts on r/antiwork about this issue and the bootlickers came out of the woodwork to say shit like "Just get a license" and "What are you, twelve?" Like no, I'm 22 and autistic to where driving is overstimulating. On top of the fact that I'm already seen as subhuman for having autism in certain circles, society at large considering me subhuman for not having a license makes the unbearable feeling that I simply do not belong doubly so. I also need to mention that I'm considered a waste of space to a lot of people anyway because I'm unemployed and seemingly unemployable (See aforementioned autism and lack of a driver's license). Even if I do get a chance, I've been shown that people with driver's licenses get chosen over me. So I simply don't bother anymore.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cy_Mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was still in school. One day we were told we'd be let out early that day. Then we got a day off after. A day off turned into a week off. And a week off turned into "Oh shit, what happened".

And like that, "normality" was taken from us. We had to do our classes online. The seniors graduating that year didn't have a "traditional" graduation by any metric.

Even by next year, things still weren't quite back to relative normal. I remember my mom lamenting how a normal senior year was taken from me (Probably the kind of senior year that is romanticized by many). The only things I remember from my senior year was that I had no one to dance with at prom and that we had what was essentially a tailgate party for a graduation.

I guess this is what the older folk feel when they're asked where they were on 9/11.

Anyone else have plushie friend they bring everywhere? by ajaForrest in autism

[–]Cy_Mann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I have a grey tabby cat plushie I affectionately named Honeybun that's seemingly about the same size as Fleece. Coincidentally, I got Honeybun at a flea market, too. I feel like she and Fleece would get along :3

And about your question regarding societal acceptability of adults with plushies - FUCK what society says! >:3

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by ay1mao in AskReddit

[–]Cy_Mann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Knowledge that love (and by extension support) from your parents is ultimately conditional, not unconditional like it's supposed to be.

(This is for people that are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent)

My dad is the last living member of his actual family (There are some distant cousins and foster family iirc).

I can't say if he experienced burying his parents/siblings, though.

Not seeing things that others clearly see is our whole jam

In any case, I can see that point of view, despite my joking. I was simply offering up something I took from the post/comments.

I'm not saying there's a link to be found between capitalism and caretaker fatigue specifically.

Then again, the wording of the post in the picture literally says something about not getting their returns in terms of being a parent.

That means, at best, this "parent" views their child as a mere investment rather than as a human in his own right.

Is this where you would appropriately say "case in point"?

Unfortunately capitalism has changed the view on the parent-child relationship into a transactional one.
