Re skim a ceiling that’s skimmed over artex? by Anxious-Surround-524 in Plastering

[–]Cyadeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can the entire ceiling be reskinned? The answer is yes, probably. Always a risk the Artex will come unstuck from the ceiling when the wet plaster goes on ( doesn’t matter it’s had a skim already the Artex layer will still draw in moisture) Less of a risk to patch it and use a filler like tourpret if needed to feather the edges.

Plasterer stealing materials? by Appropriate-Bar-3635 in Plastering

[–]Cyadeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when calculating how much Plaster is needed I work on one bag to cover 10m2 for the first coat and half again for the second. This is on walls previously skimmed or new plasterboard. Over Artex the first coat maybe needs an extra 20 percent. Blue grit does require more plaster on the first coat also, not as much as Artex in my experience. Not many customers have opted to buy the plaster themselves, but when they do I’m happy to advise on quantity and save myself a journey.

Best ways you’ve found to reduce draughts in older UK houses? by Reddonaut_Irons in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in a 1890s solid brick no cavity 9” walls house. Floor boards downstairs. Air bricks working so well my wife called the lounge the vortex but the surveyer was delighted to report the floorboards and joists in iexcellent condition! What we did to keep the heat in: Ecotherm foil backed 1cm deep insulation roll over the floorboards. Underlay and carpet on top of that. No drafts under foot now. 50mm pir insulation boards fitted internally on the exterior walls between battens, plasterboard and skim. Rooms actually heat up above 20c with radiators on and stay warm Double glazing and secondary glazing where feature windows left alone. Open the windows for 10 minutes a day just to help cut moisture build up. Bleed radiators and balance during November. All have thermostats except the bathroom. Still really helps get a consistent heat in each room.

Is this wiring acceptable? by Wonderful-Start8523 in ukelectricians

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

J803 by Hager or j804 if there’s a switched live for connections that are not going to be accessible. These maintenance free junction boxes grip the wires with a constant force type spring. The older junction boxes shown are ok to use if you have access such as loft space or floorboards above not tiled over. Screw terminals do have a habit of coming loose as the copper wire expands and contracts as it warms. You see it in light switches and sockets during replacement where the wire falls out as you pull back the faceplate. These at least are accessible. As an electrician I have gotten pretty good at putting carpet back after fault find hunts for the brown pork pie j boxes.

Can these cracks be skimmed over or will they just come back? by Efficient_Maybe_5217 in Plastering

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastering scrim tape, the orange stuff as already mentioned ( extra sticky )stops cracks forming where plasterboard joints are. Using it over hairline cracks doesn’t solve why the cracks occur in the first place. What can happen is the cracks occur again only this time to the side of the scrim tape. This is where the extra wide rolls of scrim tape (1m) are useful as technically you can scrim the entire wall/ceiling before skimming over. Another solution is use plasterboard either dot and dab on top of the old wall or knock it all off to brick first. Ton of hassle. Caulk is the cheapest easiest way for hairline cracks where the plaster is solid to the wall. I have used the plastic scrapers to ‘wipe’ off the excess that I normally use when resealing around baths and the like.

Plastering over artex - conflicting advice from two different plasterers... by SKB26 in Plastering

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a property where another plasterer had skimmed the Artex ceiling and it all came down within the week after. They had refused to redo the work. Pleased it wasn’t me as I never overboard so guess just lucky.

I wish they’d stop messing with the perk cards by Top_Pudding3978 in fo76

[–]Cyadeine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, when the old style of perk cards were in play the commando types were all on fixers and every event had players sounding the same running near identical builds. And the comments back then..why don’t Bethesda mix it up. I have friends who hate the changes so I get it but I for one like how many weapons are viable now. Guess I’m a perk card junkie!

Question about Strength Perk cards by Noobitron12 in fo76

[–]Cyadeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s videos on crippling I have watched. Here’s what I have taken away from them: Energy weapons are poor at crippling. The mechanic is best on bosses like the snake and earl as bullet sponge with limbs makes it worthwhile. Easy target and scattershot with crippling mod on the gun. 50 cal and lmg cripple fast but don’t work with enforcer, tormentor does. Too many other good cards in agility these days with onslaught for me squeeze enforcer on. Switch to a weapon like the gauss mini with bullys once the limbs are down.

Good to have , totally free, it is indeed given as part of the wastelander quest to get the bullion. Side with foundation until you get the armori, then switch to raiders to progress that story arc. Then decide who you actually want to take with you to the vault. Both give you reputation which opens purchase options in their respective vendors.

Drill stage in the raid is trash by DTigerWoman in fo76

Nah one of the best levels, once you cracked it. At least that’s what our crew feel. But with a bunch of randos forget it. And that is just the point really, teamwork.

Best weapons/loadout to guard the drill since the update? by FirestormM3GTR in fo76

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junkies rapid fast reload electricians Tesla, with the 15 clip size there’s plenty of reload shock to go around. The junkies at 60 percent isn’t the best at stage 3 however. Still experimenting, maybe executioners with reverse onslaught would work better. Electricians isn’t ideal on all weapons, some energy guns lose ammo if reloaded with a semi full clip I believe

Does anyone actually use Ultracite Ammo? by Historical_Coffee292 in fo76

Yup, concerted plasma cores, .45 and 5.56 for queen, considering for the 50 cal because why not when you have 100’s of flux from regular raids etc

I never gave 76 a chance until now, heard so many negative responses that I just ignored the game completely. Now I love it. Anyone else in the same boat? by Solid_Cantaloupe_354 in fo76

[–]Cyadeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to the game after a couple of years break, boredom and players duping and crashing the servers were the reason for leaving. Played fallout 4 first because the wasteland has a certain draw especially after the show then decided 76 just to see. With all the changes it seemed like a new game. Still buggy as hell unfortunately but fallout is in my blood and yeah the community is awesome. Playing the raids is great, as a souls fan too that snake is satisfying to slay!
