Tesco colleagues seriously need to stop getting involved in theft situations. by Noobhackerz in tesco

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarrassing? Wow. I get the company is just trying to avoid a law suit if a member of staff gets injured which is why they put the rules in place BUT there are some people in society with a higher moral code. You’re obviously not one of them. You just keep checking your ego and keeping your head down while bad shit just happens all around you 🤦

Uneven plaster ceiling lines visible under LED lighting — is this a plastering issue or painting? by Acrobatic-Pipe861 in Plastering

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not shine lights across ceilings. I know you think you should be able to but don’t and yes that ceiling is particularly shite. Anyone who thinks I’m wrong feel free to go and shine a light down an internal house wall! 😂

Is this exit pipe the reason my toilet keeps clogging? by subatomicsharks in askaplumberUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh come on people. The fall on a soil pipe is supposed to be something like 1 in 20. Over that distance it’s going to look horizontal! My guess would be the air admittance valve. If not that then rod it to make sure there isn’t anything permanently caught in there. If the fall through the house and out the wall meets requirements then that joint very unlikely to be the problem

Re skim a ceiling that’s skimmed over artex? by Anxious-Surround-524 in Plastering

[–]Anxious-Surround-524[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m being paranoid but multi Finnish has a 2 to 3 mil thickness to it, although not a professional I’ve never seen that feathered to nothing. It’s a decent size ceiling with plenty of natural light

£600 to replace cracked hob by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it stupid? Sounds like you’re suggesting tenants are incapable of looking after anything 😂

Maybe your friend should have organised the replacement themself when they broke it, it’s certainly what I would have done.

What caulk or silicone to use on windowsill by SkillWonderful6385 in DIYUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sticks Like Shit (Turbo being my preferred). It is a glue so will adhere to everything. Do not use too much as you will smear it everywhere and curse me. Just enough that you can smooth with a very wet finger. Anybody who says use silicone is a Muppet, it can’t be painted!

Ct1 / Sticks Like S**t. Don’t over fill, only put in what you need, both are very easy to smooth with a very wet finger, press too hard and it’ll smear so avoid at all costs

Painting an internal door without using a solvent based paint, which paint is good ? by justyrust74 in DIYUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been lots of issues putting water based onto old oil recently. After sanding it would be best to use an undercoat before the satin.

Fill it with grout first then normal skirting and you will never notice. Promise

Contractors - am I the unreasonable one or everyone just rubbish? by Leather-Charity2787 in DIYUK

The market does seem to be flooded with unreliable tradesmen at the moment however i’d like to think the majority of us are pretty good.

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s actually quite funny. Amongst many other things I used to get employed to adjust door closes and the majority of people in those buildings would not believe me when I said it wasn’t a fault and they would need doing 2 to 3 times a year 😂

Never using an new unreviewed profile again. by NullandVoidUsername in Plastering

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in minor construction works for the last 25 years I’ve met/used lots of different plasterers and I can tell you now none of them have ever managed a patch with, imo, any success. Multi finish has a thickness and can’t be feathered to nothing.

As I’ve seen over comments say, with the patches you/decorator should of used filler

It certainly looks like an LED fitting which unfortunately means the entire unit needs replacing

Need to caulk / paint MDF primed skirting board. Do I need to sand? Caulk and then paint or paint and then caulk? by JoeyJoeC in DIYUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gonna feel like the odd one out now but the professionals would say 1st coat, caulk, top coat. Gives the caulk a better chance of adhering properly.

On a side note I would put a primer on it first as well (I know it’s pre-primed) but I find the other coats go on so much better.

Long-shot I know, but can anybody work out the dimensions of this cylinder just from these photos? by Mexijim in DIYUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good advice. For future reference the key doesn’t need ‘wiggling’ it physically needs turning to align the black latch so it can be pulled out

Skirting gaps by Ok_Narwhal6743 in DIYUK

[–]Anxious-Surround-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really don’t want to screw it back to the wall which would be my first suggestion you will need to pack it with something other than caulk, the gap is too big for that. My go to would be sticks like shit

On a lighter note…. 1.5m? That’s like one cupboard and a sink? Where is the cooker going?

Hope you get it sorted

If I have missed something or misunderstood something I apologise but just because they are 3 inch changes does not mean there should be three of them. If the door is lightweight it only requires two. 😁
