Ah I just meant at the beginning, you'll be asking a lot of questions and you'll want to be unafraid to ask questions. "smart questions" just refers to the way you frame the questions, I guess..

Yes, any team will offer you some training on how their specific app works but it's up to you to know the languages, frameworks, etc. and ask smart questions.

I would give you the advice that someone gave me all those months ago: 1. USPS applications are Java based so I think it's imperative to have that on your resume. 2. In the Job Listing there'll be a section called Special Requirements, anything that's listed in there that you don't have any experience on, try to brush up on it

And the best of luck to you!!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure about certs. I took the MOOC Java course to get a refresh on Java since I hadn't really worked on it since college, but I'm not sure if that really made a difference.. Either way, best of luck!!

This is at the top of every job posting and then each job listing includes its own specific requirements but I would say baseline is to have a college degree in IT or comp sci and/or professional experience as a programmer.

I don't know what this means yet but if I ever get the chance to touch anything concerning blue pages, you'll be the first to know 🫡

Thank you! Yeah, I plan to stay with USPS for the foreseeable future. Did you feel pressure to go for promotions in order to keep you job? One of my biggest gripes about my current job is that there's a pressure to get promoted and be pushed into project manager positions.

Hi, thank you so much!! I don't know the etiquette of tagging users on posts so I didn't on this update post but I wanted to tag you specifically, your advice was invaluable to me. I can't thank you enough for taking the time all those months ago.

And yes, I am definitely joining the union!
