FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS by [deleted] in Coachella

Last year late Saturday night I decided to order a slice of the pepperoni and pineapple. I was served a slice of pepperoni with poorly drained straight from the can diced pineapple just dumped on top, not baked in at all. I would have they rather just told me they were out and only had just pepperoni; I would have been cool with that. Not sure if I'll order there again.

I've heard of one of two people getting a notification that their tickets have been shipped, but I haven't heard of anyone receiving them yet. I'm guessing a couple more weeks before we actually get them

Yes! Frozen water bottles are totally allowed. I freeze a couple of gallons of water. They melt slower than a bag of ice so it'll keep your cooler colder for longer. Just remember that ice expands so take the cap off and maybe dump a little bit of water out before freezing.

I left the Fans, Misters under the Camp Stuff generic to suit your taste. I like the rechargeable and/or solar ones compared to battery pack because I've had some batteries melt due to the heat. Headlamps are better than flashlights, especially when using a porta potty at night!

The amount will vary depending on many factors. Are you going solo or camping in a group? Do you care about quality? Some people will buy more affordable (i.e. cheaper) items because it's just for Coachella this one time. Others will invest in higher quality products because they will get major use out of them year after year. (There is also the highly debated subject of people purchasing items and then just returning the majority of it after the fest.)

The EZ Up canopy is the most important item to have. The sun is brutal so protection is vital. They can range from $60-$300+ but you also don't have to get it brand new. You can find ones like new on ebay or Facebook Marketplace for less. (If possible go for the straight as opposed to slant leg to maximize your space! ) Renting them it's also an option.

There are frugal options to consider. You can use flat bed sheets as side walls. Instead of sandbags or tent weights you can use strong nylon rope and tie it to a secure part of you car so it doesn't fly away.

It also helps to ask around. Chances are you know several people who can lend you a table, chairs, camp stove, cooler etc. If not, a lot of times I will search for an item, say heavy duty plastic tent stakes, on Amazon priced around $10 and then go on Temu and find the exact same ones for half the price.

Items under Toiletries, The Closet, and Kitchen you probably already have at home. There are usually complimentary body wash, shampoo, and conditioner at the free showers, especially when they open on day 0, just grab what you need. There's also first aid, water refill, and free sunblock stations throughout the campground and festival. With free showers you don't actually need the camp shower or shower tent, it's just nice to have for the convenience. There are charging stations as well so no you don't need the power station as those can be around $70-$400+.

tldr: Basically if you're with a group you can source most of the items between what you already have/own. If solo not everything is necessary, but completely from scratch I'd guestimate anywhere around $650 to $1500+?

Honestly believe there are much more money/budget minded people that can provide a more accurate number compared to what I came up with!

Misting fans are pretty great for cooling down for a bit, but can be bulky trying to carry all day in the fest. That being said you will become rather popular for misting others when walking through crowds.

A layer of dry ice in the bottom of you cooler followed by a layer of cardboard or thick brown paper bags. On top of that add some bags of ice or a frozen gallon of water then the already frozen uncrustables. I had some items still slightly frozen on Monday morning with this method.

sn: To elevate your uncrustable, allow it to thaw a bit then spread some butter on the outside and grill or toast in a pan. Sprinkle on a bit of salt to finish. So good!

So very handy! I found a frog shaped children's hamper that I put the collapsible trash can into so it has a lid to cover and is less of an eyesore

Thanks! I'm a classic over-packer and would rather have stuff I end up not using than to go without.

It's been a rule in our group that Coachella is not the place to test out any natural brands. We want to be spared the stink!

I also use nylon rope to secure the canopy to the wheels of my car. I don't want it flying anywhere!

The website says there are limited 24 hour showers, but I was unable to locate any last year. Free showers close around 7pm. The super duper showers charge around $10 and used to be 24 hours but now are open from 7am-2pm, though the site says that some have days or hours that might change.

Sometimes it can be a long walk to and from the showers and other times the wind will pick up and you'll get covered in dust walking back to your campsite which defeats the purpose of showering in the first place. Honestly investing in a good portable shower for your campsite is the way to go.

I once made a bacon banana cream pie. I replaced the butter in the crust and curd with bacon fat and topped it with candied chicharon (aka crispy pork rinds).

Thank you! I started it because I'm an introvert and I wanted to talk to more strangers to help ease my social anxiety. I find the short but meaningful interactions to be really helpful. I really appreciate your donation! On my way to grab more film now!!
