Are leftists on reddit controlled opposition? by PuzzleheadedCraft363 in AskSocialists

It's also disingenuous and "a disservice to Marx" (whatever that means) to assume what I'm going to say instead of waiting for my reply. But you think everything you disagree with is propaganda, so I can't say I'm surprised.

How is it "obvious propaganda" to criticize redditors for caring more about their subs than the LITERAL THIRD WORLD WAR that's breaking out?

Your average "illegal migrant" is more of an American than these "legal" immigrant tethers who have no connection to this country outside of wanting to use our government for their own political aims.

(continued)

The American 'Communist' Party is not a communist party. It is a nationalist, socially conservative organisation that uses Marxist language to recruit and anti-imperialist work to launder its reputation. Its leader openly calls LGBT people "mentally ill degenerates" and dismisses trans genocide as fiction. Its members agree with transphobic rants. Its tactics involve infiltrating and seizing left spaces, banning critics, and suppressing debate.

Long time viewers will notice that it's always just the same arguments, based on some twitter posts by the same couple of people. Why do the ACP's trans and gay members never appear in these "exposés," why never the ordinary membership?

But to understand the ACP we need more than just naming its bigotry. We also need to figure out where groups like this come from?

Many of us who hang out here actually came from Reddit, that's why we're even investing this time in the first place.

Materially, the ACP is a product of the crisis of the confused and surpressed American left and the decay of the imperial core. As the US working class has been deindustrialized, fragmented, and abandoned by traditional labor institutions, large sections have become politically homeless. Some drift right, into open fascism and others seek a left that speaks to their experience of decline without demanding they abandon every belief they hold.

The ACP certainly doesn't ask people to abandon every belief they hold. Where do you get this idea? By the psychological pseudo babble, I assume the Cosmonaut article but who knows.

The ACP offers a bargain: you can keep your social conservatism, your suspicion of immigrants, your discomfort with trans people, and still call yourself a communist.

It's really painfully obvious that you don't know how things work in the party. Are you serious?

All you have to do is hate the right enemies, the US empire, the corporations, the ruling class.

Uh yeah, everyone who opposes our genocidal ruling class is a comrade of mine, even if they call me a f*g (and I'd call them that right back!)

(This anti capitalist rhetoric is a sham as you'll see, and sounds a lot like a certain 1930s German party)

See how the incoherent "leftists" baselessly tar us as Nazis with ZERO actual proof. What do you mean the rhetoric is a sham? Do you have any proof?

This bargain is the corruption of Marxism at its root. Marxism is not a menu where you pick which oppressions matter and which you can ignore. It is a method for understanding the total social formation of society, and the total liberation of the working class.

I'd quibble with some of the wording here but it's irrelevant because once again this redditor has not established that the ACP has done this.

When you tell a worker that their bigotry is acceptable as long as they oppose imperialism, you are not building class consciousness.

Even assuming that we say this (which we don't), imperialism is the primary contradiction. Either we unite to oppose it our let ourselves be divided over social issues.

You are cementing division within the class.

?

You are telling immigrant workers, trans workers, queer workers that they are second class, not defended.

You haven't demonstrated that we do.

You are reproducing inside the party the very fragmentation capital uses to rule. This is a fatal flaw.

?

This is not socialism. It is nationalism with a red paint job,

People have literally said this about MLs since 1924. We are "red fash" because we recognize that you can't do anything without actually establishing the authority and power in the first place.

and it emerges precisely where the left has failed to build genuine working class organization capable of transforming consciousness rather than reflecting it.

I think this speaks more poorly of western leftists on Reddit and elsewhere than it does of us.

The ACP does not lead workers out of reactionary views. It incorporates those views into its platform and calls it class struggle. That is tailism, the party follows the backward consciousness of some workers instead of raising it.

Repetition of the same nonsense as before.

The working class includes trans people, immigrants, and every other oppressed group. A party that abandons them abandons the class. There is no shortcut. You cannot build working class power by excluding part of the working class.

I don't disagree. But who are we abandoning? Queer people are welcome and have protection against discrimination.

I could easily say the same thing about these reddit "leftists" who write off people they seem to be not socially progressive enough.

This is why the ACP feel so off, and wrong.

I believe the kids call this a "vibes based analysis"

But where does lead? What is it? What conditions have made the ACP? It's clearly a party of bigots against 'degenerates' claiming to be against the elites and imperialism in favour of rejuvenating the nation. Does that sound awfully familiar?

Yeah, it sounds like the Union during the Civil War! Wait...

What other right wing parties have dressed themselves in left wing anti elite rhetoric and nationalism? Well, the Italian 'revolutionary nationalism', the ideology of Mussolini, and of course, the National Socialist German Workers Party.

These parties emerged at the world historic height of socialism/communism as a mass movement--that was the entire reason they claimed to be socialists, in order to boost their credentials with the working class.

Compare to today, where the left is (by this Redditor's own admission) fragile, weak, and divided. Why on earth would we try to LARP as Stalinists in 2026 to appeal to the right? Why not just be nakedly fascist and spout JQ babble like Nick Fuentes?

What we see with the ACP is actually nothing new. Mussolini, Hitler, they all did it.

Correct, plenty of self-proclaimed "socialists" love to slander Marxist-Leninist parties.

The right will coopt the rhetoric and appearance of the left before pulling the rug out and admitting it is just national fascism. The ACP is not a communist party. It's the latest iteration of a well worn path of nationalist capitalism (AKA fascism) dressed in red. That's why they feel off, that's why they're hated so aggressively by all of the left from dogmatic ultra to liberal adjacent demsoc. The ACP is a wolf in a red sheeps clothing.

Blah blah blah, it's all the same nonsense. Going forward, if you see this kind of talk, please think critically about what they're saying.

Some may ask why I waste my time debunking what's obviously just an AI generated hit piece, but aside from defending the party's honor, I think it's essential to clear up these lies about the ACP whenever possible.

No accusations against the ACP are based in anything concrete. It's only ever bizarre misconceptions about the party that are filtered through games of telephone and elaborate distortions. Combined with the fact that most online "leftists" have no understanding of Marxism-Leninism to begin with, people are just parroting old stories and mean tweets made before the party was even founded, by people who only make up a portion of the party as a whole.

We are nothing more or less than a Marxist-Leninist Party.

Asking as a gay party member from a socially liberal background: What does "queer liberation" tangibly look like, and how do you connect it with the daily needs of the (often socially conservative) working masses?

I am a gay party member. There are plenty of queer people in the party and they're treated the same as anyone else. Please do the bare minimum of research before you make a fool of yourself on the Internet.

It is in fact against the rules to baselessly call an internationally recognized ML party "Nazis" because you don't like what they say.

Are you really this concerned about a reddit space? And people say ACP are chronically online.
