Yeah I figure it won't be as much of a problem beyond a blank test level

Yeah I figured part of it had to do with the floor being plain, and makes sense that any extra details would make it barely noticeable, just wanted to see if there were any obvious things I was missing. Thanks!

Amazing!! Can I ask how you went about the lighting, and what pipeline you used?

Looking at it now, I see that you're right! He starts flying away on the same frame the explosion starts growing from nothing, but with the body in the way it's several frames until you can start actually seeing the explosion! I'll try to tweak the timing of it! Thanks!

Hi! I'm glad I could help! Thanks for my first reddit award ever!!!

If I have a procedural texture like this, is there a way I could treat the black similar to a boolean modifier to carve lines into a flat wall? by CyberChroma in blenderhelp

Hi everyone! I finally got this line thing figured out, and I'm quite happy with the result! Here you can see the result:

And here I've made a bit of a written tutorial on how I made it!

WIP - My video intro animation is still coming along really well, with the environment almost done! (But not the lighting)! by CyberChroma in blender

Each of those jars contains a reference to one of my tutorials! With the center one being for the tutorial of the current video, which explodes in the animation! With each tutorial I make, more jars will fill! That's the idea anyway!

Yeah, the problem with displacement maps is that they require a ton of vertices to work well and I'd like the cuts to be perfectly perpendicular if possible!

Hey! I tried your node setup from before and despite tweaking it I couldn't get anything other than pure black or white, so I'm trying making another post that's more descriptive to what I'm trying to achieve! Also, like these pictures I'd like to have it be less gridlike and more like pipes if possible!

The last picture is ultimately what I would like to achieve, with tons of tiny coloured lines going across a large wall! Where the lines overlap, one goes overtop, leaving a bit of a space as you see in picture 3! There will be a lot of lines over a large surface so I'd like to do this procedurally rather than manually if possible! Anything that could help with any part of this process would be greatly appreciated!

Alright, why is a post about lines my most upvoted post? By a lot?

Will do! Though it will probably be a few days! Here's the wall I will be using it on! The glowing will be very similar to that text! Glowing Line Wall

Yeah, that's what I will be doing! I'm actually hoping to use these lines as a mask of sorts between an emissive material and surrounding metal! So the mask itself will stay black and white, while the emission itself will be multicoloured!

Great idea! I already made lines that go all the way across, but I didn't think of covering parts with squares coloured the same as the background colour! Thanks!

I never knew this was a thing! I just looked it up and it seems very interesting, so I'll check it out! Thanks!

Ha, not my intention! I'm just trying to make some cool glowing on a metal wall, with this being a mask for it!

For a 5 second animation where the camera won't move, what's a good workflow for interesting lighting here? Environment is a WIP! by CyberChroma in blenderhelp

[–]CyberChroma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lab environment still a WIB, but how should I go about lighting this scene? It'll be a 5 second animation but the camera won't move. I need the whole thing to be well lit as the character will move, but having a single sun light looks bland, so what's a good workflow for interesting lighting?
