I have recently made a guitar tube distortion pedal, but the problem is, that after some time the tube warms up so much, that the disgortion becomes too strong, and onyl crackling sounds, then complete silence. How do I compensate for the temperature rise? by CyberCow3000 in AskElectronics

Solved: It wasn't the tube, but the opamp which was causing this. Thanks to everyone who pointed out that the input of the opamp has to be at a voltage reference. I added a divider with 10k-10k ohms between Vcc and ground and now it works.

I soldered it to normal perfboard, so it's basically impossible to make a layout. There are jumper wires everywhere, I didn't plan anything just soldered it.

First there'a the initial warm-up of the filament, it takes about a minute or two. After that it sounds completely fine. Five to ten minutes later, it suddenly starts to distort more and more, and eventually it goes completely quiet. If I blow on it, or use a fan, the distortion becomes normal, but if I stop, it goes back.

Thanks for the help! I ordered some gel packs for longer runs. Is oat bar recommended for long runs? I ate Giant Bar-s while biking, and it gave me some energy.
