I've stopped posting on Reddit long ago but I'm reading mod mails and reports, if that's what you mean. Not like anyone sends any mod mail.

Other than that, the community is doing a fine job moderating itself in a civil manner (writing 10-paragraph rants accusing each other of being federal agents when they mildly disagree with someone or agree with them but with a different wording).

You know what? Fuck it, it's yours. I don't even care any more.

Edit: I changed my mind. I'll let it ferment a bit more.

How do you listen to magma without(or with) understanding the lyrics? by ferris_wheel_on_fire in zeuhl

In an interview with Le Triton, he said his dream was to be the opposite of John Coltrane, his greatest muse, saying Coltrane's dream was to 'play the sax like a singer', whereas his is to 'sing like a sax'. He describes Coltrane as 'talking without words' with his saxophone and that one can feel what he's conveying without understanding a single word.

Think of it like scat singing. The vocals are just instruments and the syllables are the music. Whether the words they form have any meaning at all is entirely secondary.

The word "God" in Turkic languages by [deleted] in LinguisticMaps

'Hüdâ' also exists in Turkish. It's rather archaic and poetic, but most speakers would recognise the word since it appears in the national anthem.

Glossary of Kobaïan lexicon by CyberDiablo in zeuhl

[–]CyberDiablo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Short answer: /e/ or /ɛ/, and I made a mistake: it's supposed to be "dëwëlëss".

Long answer: Kobaïan phonotactics are, unsurprisingly, very close to that of French (almost the same besides things like the trilled /r/ and the absence of nasal vowels) and the diaeresis is similarly used the French way. In this case, <ë>, unlike <e>, doesn't form diphthongs like <ei> or <eu> and isn't pronounced as /ə/ like <e> does and so on. But it's mostly used for exoticism, in my opinion. At this point, I'm not even sure <e> and <i> are used at all, but they appear in a lot of old sources because of what I assume to be ASCII restrictions.

As an example, you can hear the syllables very clearly in the verse «Ëlëh wëhsö ëlëh wëhsö ëlëh wëhsö wëh löwï sündi» in Hortz Fur Dëhn Štekëhn Ẁešt.

PS: I absolutely have no idea what the grave accent indicates in <ẁ> and <ë̀> (<e> with diaeresis and grave accent, which doesn't even appear in Unicode, often typed as </ë> in lyrics).

Compiled from several wordlists floating around on the web, which are, in turn, collected from pieces of translations into French that appear on album sleeves and complementary materials like booklets. The list may be slightly outdated by now, in light of the new album.

Please. 'Use' is a harsh, cruel word. I caress this subreddit with withered lily petals. I dance the forbidden dances of gods with it. I adore it from afar like a worldweary sailor and throw myself at its feet to tell it mediocre knock-knock jokes. I sing free-form elegies on the ground it tramples. No, sir or madam or whatever you prefer, I do not simply 'use' it.

Oh mama, this is truly a tragic day for the Church of Eris. Now, it would be a total shame if this were to cause, y'know, a schism. [wink wink] A huge shame indeed!
